  • This pre-assessment task hasParts A, B and C. These tasks reflect the 3 assessment tasks outlined in the C2C unit:
1)Part A – Chance and data: flipping coins experiment
2)Part B – Words problems and computations: written test
3)Part C – Length using metres.
  • Part A – Students do the task independently and are required to flip a coin ten times and record their results. The final question requires students to compare their results with a partner.
  • Part B – Prior to beginning the test explain to the students that they need to be able to show how they are working out the answers.
  • Part C – Prepare a length of string that is between 1.2 and 1.6 metres long for each student. Question 3 requires students to measure the side of the paper using one MAB ten. Explain to the students that they need to trace around the block each time they put it down. You will need to check their ability to not overlap the blocks or leave gaps.
