Vermillion Lewis and Clark Festival
Vermillion
Festival celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Lewis and Clark expedition. On August 25th, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., is the celebration at Spirit Mound, arranged by the Adams Homestead Group and other groups, and including talks and craft tables. Bus trips to Spirit Mound will initiate from the W.H. Over Museum in Vermillion and from the Homestead site. (In the event of rain, activities will take place at the W.H. Over Museum.) On August 28th, at 8 a.m., there will be a hike to Spirit Mound from the Vermillion River.

Prairie Village Steam Threshing Jamboree

Annual event held at Prairie Village, a replica of a pioneer town. Steam-powered and horse-powered threshing. Many antique tractors and cars, tractor pull, and musical entertainment. Re-enactment of the Grand Council when Lewis and Clark met with the Yankton Sioux. See re-enactors in period attire, Native American dancers, presentations, keelboats and pirogue, vendors, Dutch Oven cook-off, canoe and kayak excursions, and enjoy a buffalo feed. 2004 marks the bicentennial of Lewis and Clark's travel through Yankton.
