One $250 scholarship will be awarded to a student attending or planning to attend an institution of higher learning in the upcoming semester. This scholarship can be used at any accredited university, 2-year or 4-year college or technical school. Scholarships are academic in nature; financial need will not be taken into consideration. Completed applications must be received by the SDCW no later than May 1, 2015. 1. Complete and sign application form. (Attach additional sheets as necessary)

2. Enclose a copy of your most recent academic transcript.

3. Enclose a copy of your ACT or SAT scores.

4. Enclose a short list outlining the following:

(1) Your school activities and accomplishments,

(2) Community service you have performed,

(3) Your special interests and hobbies,

(4) Any work history, career goals and dreams,

(5) And at the end of your list include a brief essay (in 250 words or less) on the following subject:

How would you promote beef?

5. Please enclose TWO letters of reference that may be from the following:

(1) Teacher or counselor

(3) An adult in the community who knows you and has worked with you on community activities.

7. Completed applications must be received by the South Dakota Cattlewomen no later than May 1, 2015.

8. The winner will be notified by mail from the SD Cattlewomen and a check will be sent within 30 days of selection.

9. If two applications are extremely close in quality, the selection panel may recommend that more than one scholarship be issued.

10. Applications will be scored with 50 points for personal activities and 50 points for essay on BEEF.

11. Please send a photo that could be used in our news article of the winning applicant.
