South Community Safety Partnerships-Train the Trainer Programme

Preventing Harm From Child Sexual Exploitation

Overview

TheSouth Community Safety Partnerships (serving Chorley, South Ribble, Preston and West Lancashire), in conjunction with the area’s Children’s and Young People’s Boards,are committed to raising awareness of CSE in our front line services and community groups, developing effective partnership working with clear risk assessment and referral pathways into the multi-agency Deter Team.

JustWhistleis the country’s leading provider of specialist in Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) prevention training and the South Community Safety Partnerships have come together to commission them to create a bespoke Train the Trainer programme .

Learning objectives

The Train the Trainer Programme is intended to provide participants with the tools and knowledge to deliver a bespoke training package on CSE, supported by their CSP. This will enable trainers to cascade essential information to assist colleagues and communities in understanding CSE including vulnerability to exploitation, engaging those who are affected and the methods used by perpetrators.

A one day training event, led by JustWhistle’s Jessica Eaton, will include the following and include information togive a local context to the nationally recognised Train the Trainer model for CSE.

• Basic CSE – Introduction to Models.

• Dispelling myths and stereotypes around CSE.

• Victim Psychology in CSE.

• Perpetrator Psychology and Methodology in CSE.

• Understanding Trafficking and the NRM in CSE.

• Engaging Vulnerable Young People affected by CSE.

• Consent and the Law.

• Missing and CSE.

• Using CSE resources and tools.

NB: The Train the Trainer package is not designed to provide participants with training skills but to enhance knowledge and understanding of CSE to inform training programmes.

Benefits to you

•You will have a greater insight into the complexities of child sexual exploitation and the effectiveness of multi-agency working;

•You can cut the cost of CSE training within your service or community as you will have the toolkit to enable you to deliver the training programme in a range of settings;

•You will have the networking opportunity of other professionals on the course

The first of our sessions will be held at Chorley Town Hall on 20th October 2015 and comprise a full day of training, with a light lunch provided. The full programme will be circulated to delegates ahead of the day.

We are intending to run further sessions in the following months, depending upon the uptake by participants and at the moment we are intending to offer the course free of charge on the basis that the delegates and their employer or community group agree that they assist us by training others. A commitment to provide or assist with a minimum of three CSE Awareness sessions is being sought.

This programme is sponsored by the Police and Crime Commissioner for Lancashire
