Item 1.

Welcome & agenda distributed.

Item 2.

Minutes of Meeting held 8 June read and discussed.

Motion: that the Minutes be accepted.

Proposed CS. Seconded Rimmelle Freedman. Passed unanimously.

Item 3:

Pedestrian safety generally discussed.

Item 4:

Parking signage in Edwards Lane. Discussion of difficulties arising from construction works in that street and the perceived need to keep Lane clear.

Motion: that the current 'No Parking' restrictions in Edwards Lane be retained 24/7 after the building works are completed.

Proposed: Rimmelle Freedman. Seconded Margot Cavanagh.

Passed unanimously.

Item 5.

Presentation by Leisa Simmons re Council’s alcohol related safety issues.

General discussion of local issues esp around intersection of Bondi Road and Denham Streets.

Motion: that this Committee herewith establishes a Liquor Sub-Committee and appoints one or more members who may attend the Working Group under the auspices of Waverley Council. Karen Brown volunteered to be the first such representative.

Proposed: LF. Seconded Karen Brown

Passed unanimously.

Motion: that the Committee add an invitation to join this Sub-Committee to the next letterbox drop pamphlet re the next Precinct meeting and that the Committee convenor may use the email addresses as supplied by attendees at this meeting.

Proposed: CS. Seconded Beau Riley

Passed unanimously.

Item 6.

Traffic issues: Castlefield St.

General discussion of traffic conditions. Noted dangers presented at intersection of Castlefield and Edwards Sts. Noted speed of vehicles headed north towards this intersection. Discussion of proposed angle parking and resident parking schemes for the street. Tony Kay outlined processes adopted by Traffic Committee. Discussion of the effects of RPPS upon adjacent non-RPPS streets; and concern at adverse effects on adjacent non-RPPS streets.

Motion: that this Precinct endorses Council to expeditiously conduct a RPPS survey in Castlefield St and the adjoining streets.

Proposed: Beau Riley. Seconded Kelly Riley.

Passed unanimously.

Item 7.

Discussion of concerns about speeding vehicles in Castlefield St.

Motion: In view of the imminent Council survey Castlefield St angle parking, that there be a separate review of traffic safety in Castlefield St, including 'No Stopping' signage at the intersection of Castlefield and Edwards Sts and consideration of other traffic-calming methods along Castlefield St (including a chicane formed by angled parking being on both sides of the road as in Ocean St North).

Proposed: Beau Riley. Seconded Kelly Riley.

Passed unanimously.

Discussion of traffic and parking in Wellington St.

Discussion of DA issues arising from proposed weekend market in school grounds in Wellington St.

a.Concerns raised for alleged unauthorised backpacker hostel being operated in 34 Imperial Ave.

Motion: that Council take immediate action to investigate and take appropriate steps to regularize occupancy and use of 34 Imperial Ave.Proposed: LF, Seconded CS
