We want you there to be part of the season launch.

The committee are not sure what the election will mean regarding the possible relocation of the club but both Political parties supported the Central Oval redevelopment to the tune of $5 million so it could mean a decision needs to be made in the future if extra funds are found.

Peter Huxtable has the Regular and Long range tips organised with the first AFL game to start this week. Harry Waterworth the co-ordinator for the Racing Tips won the main prize once again to the surprise of all competitors. An inquest will be held with Couttsie to Chair the meeting.

The next 100 Club Bullseye Draw is the Sunday 2nd May. Members who get to the club for the $500 draw are entitles to $1 schooners (11-2PM) and a light snack. Get up there for a great day. Draw 12 noon , $50 Prize if in attendance.

Famous DJ “Nick Skitz” will be performing at Souths all the way from Sydney. One of the biggest DJ’s in Australia the club expects a big night with tickets at $42 available from the bar. Look out for possible booking of ACDC Cover band “ High Voltage” who may be playing at the club on the 3rd July 2010.

Football Committee report: On Saturday the 27th March, 2010 the South Augusta Football Club is having an internal trial game at Quorn Oval. There will be drinks and food available. There will be 2 games played at 20min halves with 15min interval at half time. At 10:30am the Seniors (A, B and U18s) will play. At 12:00pm the U15s will play. At 1:30pm there will be a coaching clinic held by the Seniors to any colts who are interested in picking up a couple of tips. We want to encourage any Quorn community members from colts to seniors to participate in these trials.

Be there for the first game 17th April: We played our first game against them in April 1912 and we have been arch rivals ever since, they get the boom recruits, we have our colts and despite we have won 7 SGL premierships they have won 6 SGL premierships, be there on the Saturday 17th April for a big start to the season and some lessons in loyalty.

Cricket Report ; PLAYERS, PARENTS AND SUPPORTERS ARE INVITED TO CRICKET PRESENTATION FOR ALL GRADES WEDNESDAY 31ST MARCH 6PM AT THE SOUTH AUGUSTA FOOTBALL CLUB.

Disappointment once again for the A Grade who for the second year in a row went out in straight sets after making the top 2, but taking into account they had 5 players out of the 11 who were aged 18 years or younger its all good experience that hopefully they will gain from. B Grade also had a great season but lost the grand final to a determined Quorn, Under 17s finished 4th after a tough season and an excellent result in the Under 14 who won the premiership under the guidance of Robert Noogs Rozee. The Under 14s had great numbers all year with 17 to pick from so well done to all those who played during the year.

Anthony Freebairn from the A Grade took out the Player of the Association the Keith Zubrinich Medal, after an excellent season and Jarrod Waterworth won the A Grade Bowling trophy. Anthony and Jarrod also made the Port Augusta Team of the year.

Association Trophy winners in the B Grade included Geoff Benfell, Matthew McInnis and Cletus Moroney and Connor Rozee took out the wicket taking trophy in the under 14s, a great achievement for the youngster in his first full time year. Well done to Sam Maule who won the man of the Match in the Under 14s Final.

This years carnival saw us win 2 games and lose 3 for the week. For the first time in many years all players were either current South Augusta players or former players now living in Adelaide. Best efforts for the week came from Greg Shirley and Craig White who both opened the batting and got us off to a solid start each game. Both scored half centuries with Shirls having the top score of the week with 84. Other notable efforts with the bat were Aaron Vater with 40 on the first day,Marcus Gill 43 on the last day and Darren Bakers swashbuckling innings including one huge six on day one and three.Nobody dominated with the ball but a consistent effort from all bowlers ensured no team got away from us.Tyler Tennant was leading wicket taker with 7.

Other notable events included Ben Twof earning the new nickname off Young Billy after his uncanny resemblance to a young WTB with his baggy red on, Marcus (Babycakes) Gill getting sore fingers from texting to his girlfriend at every opportunity and Darren Bakers effort in consuming a serve of Garlic bread, 2 entrees a main course and desert at the team dinner on Wednesday night then singing 2 songs at the Karaoke competition then topping it off with a late night Snack. Thanks to all of our sponsors who made the trip possible and to the team manager Colin Waterworth for organising a great trip.

Great to see some Southies awarded Life Memberships at the Crows season launch held recently, John Reid who coached 1980-1982 and a A Grade Premiership in 1981 and Rob Shirley, who we’ll claim as his old man played Colts for the club and a few A Grade games in the 70’s before leaving for Whyalla.

Club Legend Gary Kernahan turned 50 recently and it was great to see some of the old timers back at the club including the Kernahan brothers and father Harry who played a few years at the club before going to Glenelg. .Others from Souths past who attended included Tony Sullivan, Toby Bury, Keith Kelly and Michael Prime to name few who would be able to tell a few stories that can’t be told!!

Sad to hear the passing away of Alan McKerlie who played for the club from 1944 to 1953 playing in the 1947 B Grade Premiership side and being in the best players. He was also on the Committee for several years in the 1950’s. Condolences to the McKerlie family and relatives.
