In ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, we regularly see the pair back stage talking to the acts in audition stages however during live shows they are on stage in front of the massive audience introducing the acts and interviewing the judges. These presenters appeal to a wide target audience because they can be quite comical and appeal to both men, women and are also child friendly.

Ant and Dec know they can handle any situation and know what they should do if something goes wrong, as it is live TV, things can go wrong. But without a doubt they are constantly making the nation entertained. An example of this was when Dec tripped up on ‘Imma Celeb’. They managed to laugh about it and then bring the attention back to the program.

During auditions, they wear more casual clothes like jeans and a t-shirt because the auditions are not the most serious part of the show and not the most formal part. In live shows however, they do wear suits to fit the purpose of the live shows being a formal competition. They are consistently laid back and relaxed and the audience really feel as if they are being themselves and not putting on fake behaviour.

Another thing that they consistently do, is talk to the camera and use lots facial expression so the audience at home have more to see and feel like they are talking directly towards them, making them feel more involved in the show itself.

When it comes to facial expressions, these two are always happy and generally look excited to be there; they have a laugh and play off each other in a way that is a joy to watch for the audience. The same can be said in the way they mock each others actions. They act incredibly comfortable when in front of the camera often seeing behaviours as if they are at home. For example, leaning on a desk. This is a way of showing that they are totally in their zone when presenting with one another.

They act in a very informal, childish like manner yet in a way that allows them to connect with their audience. For example, in this clip we see Ant & Dec comically mocking contestants on ‘I’m a celebrity…’. The voice of the two presenters are very joyful and bubbly as that’s their style with presenting. It is a characteristic they carry with them and one they must keep up to please their particular target audience as presenters. Although the pair don’t have a catch phrase as such, they are well known for the general Geordie whit such as ‘why I’ and ‘pet’.
