SOPHOMORE FLYER FOR SPRING SEMESTER, 2017

All sophomores must take the following courses in spring semester (unless previously approved/completed and official transcript submitted). These courses will be listed on a pre-printed schedule that you will pick up from Cohen, Room 109 beginning: Monday, October 10.

Ø  Nurs 230 - Nursing Therapeutics I I- Assessment (didactic) &

Ø  Nurs 231 - Nursing Therapeutics II - Practicum (clinical)

Ø  Nurs 364 - Pathophysiology

Ø  Biol 200 – Microbiology and Biol 201 – Microbiology Lab

All five courses are co-requisites which means they must be taken together. **See note below

Although Nurs 230 and Nurs 231 are separate courses, the content is interrelated. Information learned in Nurs 230 (didactic) will be applied in Nurs 231 (clinical).

Nurs 231 Nursing Therapeutics Practicum (clinical) Students spend the majority of time for Nurs 231 in the nursing skills lab (Cohen, Room 128). Students go off campus to a clinical site spring semester approximately six times (6 hrs. each time). A calendar for on campus and off campus dates will be included with the Nurs 231 syllabus.

Spring 2017 Scheduling Information

Students are assigned to a specific schedule for spring sophomore level which includes the five courses above. You will not register yourself for these courses. These five courses will be loaded by the Registrar’s Office on November 1.

You will choose a core class that coordinates with the set schedule you receive. For the core course, enter the course CRN, course # and section in the right-hand section of the box. You will register yourself for this course beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday November 1 through Sunday, November 6.

**Biol 200/201: If you completed Biol 200 and 201 this past summer (at Xavier or off campus), minimum grade of C, you do not need to take these courses. If you completed Biol 200 but not 201, you must take Biol 201 this spring.

If you completed these courses off campus, make sure Mrs. Gomez has received your official transcript so that the credits can be posted to your academic record.

If you have credit for Biol 200 &/or 201, draw a line through the CRN & course #(s) & section(s) in the top box on your pre-printed schedule so that the Registrar does not register you for these courses. You may also wish to ‘x’ them out in the schedule section for your own reference.

DO NOT schedule your core course(s) on Nurs 231 days.

CLINICAL OFF CAMPUS TIMES: You will notice that your pre-printed schedule requires you to keep time open for Nurs 231 on both clinical days. That is due to the fact that while most sites have confirmed the day and time they are blocking out for our students, changes could be required for various reasons beyond our control.

Communications regarding schedules are often communicated via XU email and/or Canvas.
