AUGUST 2017

As a member of the board of directors for the Earl Grey Credit Union, I was honored and privileged to attend the National Conference for Canada’s Credit Unions May 7-10, 2017 in Halifax Nova Scotia.

While attending the conference I learned a lot of interesting ideas and I’m hoping to use some of this information to help with our credit union. I was also able to meet and interact with many other attendees from all areas of Canada.

Some of the highlights from the sessions I attended were:

·  People use to vote with their wallets and now they vote with their time

·  Never get comfortable where you are at

·  We need to constantly reinvent ourselves

·  Think different- square peg in a round hole

·  Be yourself

·  Stories are more important than data

·  People crave real experience

·  Be Honest

·  Make people feel worthy regardless of their worth

·  Simplicity is important (Minimal, Understandable. Repeatable, Accessible)

·  Motivate purpose not profits

I would like to thank the members and board for allowing me to attend this conference.

Leila Mohr

Celebrating 35 years of Service

Leila was hired in July of 1982 as a machine operator in the back office. In 1985 she moved into loans and through many years of hard work and training has developed into the loan officer we are fortunate to have today. During her many years of service Leila has seen numerous changes with the Credit Union. She has worked through having to manually calculate interest to having it calculated at the touch of a button. However, should the computer fail, her hard drive in her head can still calculate what is owed!

Leila is well known by members as providing service with a smile. Her experience and knowledge have made her a very valuable team member at the Earl Grey Credit Union. Leila has watched the community grow up, dealing with numerous generations of the same family. She is very active in the community and has contributed many volunteer hours over the past 35 years.

Her years of service will be recognized by the board and members at the Annual Meeting in 2018.

Congratulations Leila!!

The Earl Grey Credit union will be celebrating their 65th Anniversary in 2018. Watch for announcements for the celebration.
