Some notes on the web site

Within the results program is a web page generator with the following features

It will produce a Web page from the Entrants sheet with links to all the web pages produced from the individual sailed races. You can also automatically add a button to each page. This button could be a link to a sponsors web site or just a link to another page in your web site.

Provided you have set up your parameters correctly in Create the basis of a Web Site then Web Pages are produced automatically when you have completed the input of results into a race. (Each time it will produce the web pages for the Entrants Sheet and one for the race sheet)

A number of Files are generated in the directory you specify with the name you specify (Change the myweb to the name you specify)

mywebos.htm (The Entrants page webbed with hyperlinks to any sailed races that are part of a series)

mywebnh.htm (The Entrants page webbed with no hyperlinks to any sailed races that are part of a series)

myweb01.html(Race 1 etc)

mywebp01.htm(Practice Race1 etc)

mywebhp.htm(Produced if you are using ECHO Progressive Handicap)

mywebtm.htm(Produced if you are Regatta Team Racing shows team results)

To set up your web format activate Select Item, Create the basis for a web site from either the Entrants Sheet or a Race Sheet

The first input is the directory you wish to put your web pages (I usually use my working directory for my normal results file \html.

It will automatically choose that if you leave the input blank or press the button marked

Use Folder for this series\html

The next input needs a maximum of 6 characters and they can only be numbers or letters in lower case. This is what you want your html web files to be called. ie if you put in myweb then a file generated from the Entrants sheet will be mywebos.html (os stands for overall series)and from a race sheet will be myweb 01.html and myweb02.html etc. The mywebos.html has hyperlinks to the race pages where the file mywebnh.html has no hyperlinks to the race pages

You then design your web page.

Do you want the title Left, Right or Centred.

Do you want other text data Left, Right or Centred.

Do you want the numeric results(Points & Places) Left, Right or Centred.

My choice would be Title Centred, Text Left, Points & Places Right but you choose

There is the facility then to add the words “Provisional Result” to the web pages.

There is a facility to exclude the Series Title and the additional title words from the web pages.

You can put up to 3 logos with hyperlinks on each web page generated

These appear on the top left or Top Centre or Top Right

The logos must be in the same directory as the web pages

Leave the hyperlink box empty if you don’t have a hyper link

Then specify if you want to show points on Practice Races

Then Specify if you are timing Races if you want the Finishing time displayed

If you have any Miscellaneous columns set up these can be put at the front of the data. This is important if you have put say just the sail numbers in the sail numbers but you have put the country designations in a miscellaneous column. Now it would be nice to put the country designators before the sail numbers.

Activate Ok and the web page to your specification is produced and this standard be used to create web pages as you calculate races

The web page will have the columns in that you specify for printing. If you want more or less columns on your web page alter the print in ORGANISE ENTRANTS SHEET.

Having set up the format of your web pages you could produce the web pages as you input results

Just simply tick the box that says Produce Web Pages after Input prior to going into results input

Uploading to a Web Site

Having produced the files they can be uploaded to a web site from Select Item on the Entrants or Race Sheet

You will need to fill in your site address

i.e.

The user name and password you need to log onto the site

The folder you put your results into

Note if your login is to your results folder then leave this blank

You now choose what files you upload

You either use the normal files where you have say mywebos.html and myweb01.html etc or just mywebnh.html

The program knows where you hold your web pages and puts them to your web site from there

You can specify a different Folder

You can delete the web pages on your computer when they have been successfully uploaded

Note you must be connected to the internet prior to clicking the OK button

If you are on a dial up line don’t forget to disconnect it afterwards
