SuperSolvers Math Club – Exploring Problem Solving

This after-school club is all about having fun while building math FUNdamentals and helping students develop positive math attitudes.Students strengthen math skills and problem solving through interactive hands-on games and activities.In this session, SuperSolvers will work together using a variety of problem-solving techniques such as working backwards, finding hidden problems and/or creating a picture or graph. SuperSolvers will also learn how to ask good questions when gathering information, and how to work as a group to help solve problems. Please contact Leslie Decina() if you have any questions.

Otter Math Club (Tuesdays and Thursdays)

Students who would benefit from an additional 90 minutes of math a week are invited to be a part of Otter Math! Staff will use curriculum aligned to Common Core State Standards and explore targeted grade level math concepts through story books, games, and skills practice.

Super Math Club III – 3rdGrade (Thursdays)

This Math Club is for students who are performing at grade level. Students will work on strengthening their skills needed for the classroom, but also use this time for extension and enrichment problems. We will use a variety of curriculum materials – MyMath extension activities, basic skill practice materials, supplemental math materials and Zeno math activities and games. This will be an afterschool session devoted to strengthening existing math skills and increasing students’ interests and exposure to the next grade level and beyond. Students may be asked to complete some work at home.

Super Math Club IV–4th Grade (Wednesdays)

This Math Club is for students who are currently performing at grade level. Students will work on strengthening their skills needed for the classroom, but also use this time for extension and enrichment problems that parallel the 4thgrade course curriculum. We will use a variety of curriculum materials – MyMath extension activities, basic skill practice materials, supplemental logic/reasoning materials and Zeno math activities and games. This will be an afterschool session devoted to strengthening existing math skills and increasing students’ interests and exposure to the next grade level and beyond. Students may be asked to complete some work at home.

Math Olympiad (Wednesdays)

Students will learn a variety of problem solving techniques to explain their mathematical thinking and processes. Working collaboratively and independently they will solve challenging math problems anddevelop mathematical persistence.
