Soll Leisure launches new Active Life, Healthy Heart course in Abingdon, Oxfordshire.

Oxfordshire based leisure management company, Soll Leisure, is launching a new course called ‘Active Life, Healthy Heart’, aimed at supporting local sedentary adults to increase their physical activity and make healthier lifestyle choices. The course will start in February 2016 and take place at the Park Club Milton, Oxfordshire.

Soll Leisure’s mission is to get more people, more active, more often and the ‘Active Life, Healthy Heart’ course aims to tackle existing barriers to help sedentary adults become more active. Increasing activity levels can significantly decrease the risk of cardiovascular disease by controlling weight and decreasing blood pressure and BMI.

The course will combine nutritional workshops, beginner exercise classes and supervised gym sessions at a price of £80 for the 12-weeks, with opportunities on offer to continue exercisingafter the course. Participants will be supported to increase fitness levels with instructor support and goal setting, as well as improving diet with the help of a qualified nutritionist.

The course is available to local residents in Oxfordshire requiring support to increase their physical activity levels and decrease risk of cardiovascular disease. Interested participants can self-refer to the course and the eligibility criteria involves being inactive (0-1 days a week physical activity),with high blood pressure (≥140/90) and/or high BMI (27.5 – 35).

The course supports the county wide vision to increase participation in physical activity, to reduce sedentary behaviour, and improve the health and wellbeing of local residents.
