INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY HOLIDAYS
“SOLIDARITY PROJECT WITH PEOPLE WITH MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS”
Applications for this edition will close on Tuesday 10 March 2015 at 23:59h, which may be extended if the places offered are not filled.
1. SOLIDARITY PROJECT WITH PEOPLE WITH MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS
As part of the 11th edition of International Solidarity Holidays, an initiative will take place in which a group of 7 people with multiple sclerosis will participate as volunteers and travel together with Telefónica Volunteers from Spain to the allotted place, taking the special needs of this project into account.
In this case, the Telefónica Volunteers, in addition to carrying out the project assigned to them, will have to assist the volunteers with multiple sclerosis, occasionally and as required, so that they too can carry out their volunteer work.
The Volunteers will live with the people with multiple sclerosis for two weeks to promote their integration and their volunteer work.
2. PLACES AVAILABLE
There are 10 places in this initiative, which will have the same coverage as the other places offered in the Terms and Conditions of the 11th Initiative.
3. REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION
For this initiative the volunteer must have experience or previous knowledge of the illness or show interest for this group and be willing to inform him or herself. Furthermore, he or she must meet the selection criteria established in point 3, Requirements for Candidates, of the general document on Terms and Conditions for the 11th International Solidarity Holidays.
4. GENERAL CONDITIONS OF THE PROJECT
The term for receiving applications begins on February 16 and ends on March 10, 2015. The "Solidarity Project with people with Multiple Sclerosis" will last two weeks.
The volunteers selected must participate in the comprehensive and compulsory training provided by the Telefónica Volunteers School, and may also attend a combined distance learning/face-to-face training programme that will take place at Fundación Telefónica in Madrid.
In this case, along with comprehensive training, they will get the opportunity to understand aspects related to the illness through a prior activity with the participants with Multiple Sclerosis.
5. SPECIFIC TASKS TO CARRY OUT DURING THE "SOLIDARITY PROJECT WITH PEOPLE WITH MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS"
Where possible and where the nature of the project requires it the selected volunteers will be able to participate in defining the activities to carry out with the non-profit organisations that collaborate with Fundación Telefónica projects and with people with Multiple Sclerosis.
In particular, in addition to the tasks that the Volunteers specified in the terms and conditions of the 11th International Solidarity Holidays will carry out,the activities specific to this group will consist of more defined tasks depending on the project, the participants and the specific needs of each place, and the volunteers selected will be notified of them.
Along with the volunteer tasks required by the project the Telefónica Volunteers will also accompany the people with multiple sclerosis from Spain and will assist them where necessary (physical and psychosocial assistance).
Participation in this project implies knowledge and acceptance of the terms and conditions, and applying to be a volunteer for the Solidarity Project with people with Multiple Sclerosis implies acceptance of these conditions, which are specific to this project.
