2012-2013 SOLDOTNA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SCHOLARSHIP
HIGH SCHOOL SENIORINFORMATION AND CRITERIA
A total of 3 (3) $4000High School Senior Scholarships will be awarded by the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce. A High School Senior Scholarship means the total amount ($4,000) will be awarded in $2000 allotments; beginning in the first year and continuing for the second year if the student remains enrolled and maintains a 2.0 GPA. Scholarships will ONLY be paid to the institutions and awarded after proof of full-time registration is submitted to the Chamber for the school year. (*Please see the Payments and Record-Keeping Section of the Rules for additional restrictions and requirements regarding distribution of funds.)
THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES WILL BE USED TO AWARD THE SCHOLARSHIPS:
- A minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Student must be a permanent resident of the Kenai Peninsula at the time of application.
- Preference may be given to students continuing their education for a major in business.
- A personal interview may be conducted with qualifying applicants.
- Preference maybe given to students planning to return to Alaska, if leaving the state to pursue a
post-secondary education.
STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT:
1.A Completed Application.STUDENTS MUST USE THE FORM PROVIDED!
2.A Copy of your High School Transcript.
3.At least one letter of Recommendation from a teacher (additional letters are welcome too).
4.At leastone letter of recommendation from a member of the community (not related to you).
5.An Essay about:What ambitions & future goals are you working toward beyond your education, and what do you plan to do to meet that goal?
Application deadline is Friday, March 8, 2013 by 5:00 pm
Applications must be turned into your high school counselor.
Partial applications will not be considered.Please submit all items together.
