THE COMPANY

The Parliamentary Digital Service Department forms part of the Parliamentary Administration.

We are the strategic Technology partner to the Commons and the Lords and delivernew technologies and technology enabled change both through 3rd party contracts/procurements and in-house bespoke development. We are responsible forall operational ICT support for Parliament including a complex business applications portfolio and a secure and efficient network / desktop environment for MPs, Lords and Parliamentary staff.

THE ROLE

As a Senior Developer working in the Development team of Parliamentary Digital Service Department, you will demonstrate the ability to motivate and lead the development teams, establishing an effective working dynamic in a short space of time.

The Senior Developer will take responsibility for the design, coding, testing and documentation of a range of programs: from small components to large, complex or mission critical systems. You will also evaluate existing system designs and discusses the implementation with the relevant architect over the course of the project, it is essential you have proven ability to establish positive working relationships and influence and persuade at all levels

The Senior Developer will ensures all work is documented using the appropriate standards, methods and tools, including prototyping tools where appropriate. You will support the development and maintenance of quality assurance policies and look to improve processes where appropriate and in accordance with the organisation’s agreed standards, methods and procedures.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

We are currently looking for a Senior Developer who has:

  • Ability to motivate and lead development teams, establishing an effective working dynamic in a short space of time.
  • Strong sense of customer service and demonstrates an understanding of the needs of customers, keeping them in mind when taking actions or making decisions
  • Expert in .NET 4.0 development using C#, ASP.NET MVC Framework
  • Demonstrably up to date with trends and developments in software development technology
  • Experience of HTML5 and JQuery, with WCF or WebAPIwebservices
