COURSE POLICIES:
Students are responsible for assigned material whether or not it is covered in class. Students are responsible for material covered in class whether or not it is in the text. Working regularly on assigned problems and attending class are essential to survive. You are expected to read the text, preferably before the material is covered in class. Quizzes are given randomly and frequently reflect material that has recently been discusses in class. To further encourage attendance instructors need not give makeup quizzes. No late HW will be accepted and no make-up quizzes will be given. Homework problems and due dates will be announced in class and listed on my webpage. Make-up exams are at the discretion of the instructor and only in case of documented emergency. In any case, no make-up exam will be given unless the student has notified the instructor before the test is given. Message may be left in my office, at the main office (965-3951) or through email.

ETHICS:It is highly unethical to bring to your instructor's attention the possible impact of your mathematics grade on your future plans, including graduation, scholarships, jobs, etc. The instructor may exercise an option to withdraw you from the course if he/she thinks you are compromising the ability to assess your work independently of any other consideration.
Students found to be involved in academic dishonesty will be removed from the class, and a grade of XE for the course will be submitted to the registrar. The student will be advised to repeat the course with another professor, possibly at another institution. This is the least action taken. Further, more serious actions may be taken if the situation indicates that such actions are appropriate. We will act very harshly againstcheating during Quizzes or Exams.

HOMEWORK:
Will be posted on my web page as the semester goes on.Homework will be a very important part of your learning. You cannot expect to solve all assigned problems easily. Some problems will require more time and effort. Even if you are unable to solve the entire problem, the time spent on trying is not wasted. Try to emphasize understanding rather than memorization when you are working on the problems.
It is recommend that you form study groups to work together on the problems. You need to explain everything on your homework solutions for full credit. No late homework will be accepted.
In addition to your written homework we will use WeBWork as an evaluation tool to practice the basics. These problems will be put on the web and you will solve the problems on the web. You may try to answer homework problems more than once. After each try, a message appears telling you whether the answer is correct or not. This allows you to find out what you did wrong and hopefully better understand the question. It can be either your own or one in any of the ASU computer labs. The URL is . Once you get to this URL, click on MAT 272 Firoz. You need to login through ASU using your ASUrite id and password. Select the assigned homework section from the menu and click on the problems to work them out. We still encourage you to solve these problems first on paper. Click on Download Hardcopy for Selected Sets to get a printout of the problems.
