Society of American Military Engineers South Florida Post Scholarships

The South Florida Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) promotes advanced education by offering annual scholarships to college students and high school seniors who are enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), and Architecture. Scholarships are awarded annually to 2 college students and 2 high school seniors. Each scholarship is a single $1000.00 payment to help defray education costs. Scholarships are awarded in the summer, in anticipation of the students’ enrollment in the following fall semester.

Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must comply with the following:

  1. Be a United States citizen.
  2. Reside in the SAME South Florida Post area of operations; please see for information about the South Florida Post.
  3. Currently working toward (or accepted into) an undergraduate degree in an accredited college or university
  4. Seeking a degree inScience, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) or Architecture.

Selection Criteria: Selection will be based on the following factors:

  1. Academic achievement/grade-point average, particularly in courses related to engineering and national security.
  2. Involvement in extracurricular, community, leadership, and sports activities.
  3. Response to essay-type questions in the application.
  4. Involvement in activities supporting national security through engineering and associated professions.

Application Process: Applicants should forward a completed application form and academic transcripts to the SAME South Florida Post scholarship committee (email is acceptable) byJune1st. Applications received after this date will not be considered. A notice of receipt will be sent to the email address provided on the application. All applicants will be notified of their selection or nonselection by June30th..
