Intake Specialist Intern

Haven for Hope Intake Department is seeking Social Work, Psychology, and Sociology majors to work as Intake Specialists. The intern would meet with individuals experiencing homelessness as they are being admitted. This internship requires the ability to engage families and individuals to acquire their information, discuss placement options with the client, and provide excellent client service. The intern would also provide timely and accurate documentation of information through HMIS.

Case Management Intern

Case Management is seeking interns to assist in case management for the clients on campus and in the community. The intern would work with a Case manager and Peer Support to perform clinical case management utilizing Evidence Based Modalities. In this position the Intern will perform assessments, process referrals, and perform community case management including home visits. The Intern may also process intakes, work with the housing team, and manage a caseload of individuals striving to find their way home. Position is preferable to Social Work Interns Master’s Level.

Outreach Specialist Intern

Outreach is looking for an intern to assist them in reaching out to people experiencing homelessness in the community. The intern would be establishing relationships with individuals with possible mental health and substance abuse issues. There would be ample client interaction as well as some supply preparations, such as putting together hygiene kits. The internship has flexible hours and does require some physical activity; walking around downtown.

Information Resource Provider Intern

The Transformation Center is seeking an intern to work set hours as an on-call resource center providing clients with resource referrals. The intern would work in the library and provide clients with information about what resources are available to them, such as food stamps, housing assistance, vision and dental and how they can utilize them. The Intern would answer calls, walk-ins, and e-mails. In addition the Intern will act as a triage center representative helping members navigate both Haven and Community Systems. Preferable to any Social Service Intern Bachelors or Associate level ok.

Administrative Internships

Grant AssistantIntern

The Development department is seeking an intern to assist in grant writing and research. Additional intern duties may include: thanking donors through thoughtful letters; assisting with the coordination of special events; planning donation drives; participating in development strategic planning. They may also assist in communications with internal programs and partners to strengthen collaborative efforts.

HR Intern

Human Resources is seeking an intern to work on policies and on the employee handbook. The intern would help revise important forms and documents such as applications and official job descriptions and would help keep the employee information up to date. They would assist in event planning, helping the HR employees with various tasks, and recruiting by preparing postings, tracking responses, and setting up interviews.

Business Internships

Accountant

The Accounting Intern will directly assist the Finance Team with a wide range of projects related to expense report auditing, account reconciliation, revenue processing, and grant accounting. This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the intern will learn how to take skills she or he may have acquired in school related to his or her particular areas of interest, and apply them in a professional setting. He or she will gain a better understanding of the role that Finance can play in a non-profit setting, and be better prepared to work in the arena of accounting. The candidate will also have opportunities to network with Case Management, Human Resources, and Development staff.

Business Analyst Intern for Software

IM is seeking and intern to work as a Business analyst. The Business Analyst (BA) will work closely with key stake holders and Data Services Manager. The BA will help gather requirements and guide stakeholders through a basic project management process. The intern will scope the system by identifying and interviewing the stakeholders and identifying Document Program Scope creating requirements. They will also interpret needs by using Data Services to translate requirements into tasks and create project schedule. The intern will communicate issues to the stakeholders and represent the stakeholders through the process.

Theology Internships

Spiritual Service 1-to-1 “Soul Friending”

Spiritual Services is seeking companions to be present for those who reside at Haven, to engage in deep listening, and to possibly pray with them. The intern would meet with clients one-on-one and would offer spiritual care; this would be similar to pastoral counseling or spiritual direction. Seminary students or those with the trained or in training skillset of presence, listening, and prayer would be ideal for this position.

IT Internships

Computer Lab Managing Intern

The Transformation Center is seeking an intern who could help clients in the computer lab. Many of the members would benefit from an intern who is knowledgeable about computers who could help with a large range of challenges. The intern could help with computer training, resume building, and educational resources. The intern could possibly hold classes on computer programs.

Facilities and Campus Management Internships

Facilities Management Intern

Operations is looking for an intern to manage the campus facilities. This would involve organizing custodians and maintenance staff, creating a plan for the custodians, and determining a plan to account for maintenance. The Haven for Hope campus is comprised of several buildings full of furniture, electronics, and supplies. It would be part of the intern’s responsibilities to track the inventory and calculate the value of the inventory.

Research Internships

Data Quality Monitoring and Analysis Intern

The HMIS Team is looking for a research minded intern to assist in collecting, cleaning up, and analyzing data on people experiencing homelessness in Bexar County. The intern would have the opportunity to conduct research and analysis to inform planning efforts led by the San Antonio/Bexar County Continuum of Care (CoC) – the South Alamo Regional Alliance for the Homeless (SARAH). Intern will also analyze data related to service provision and assist with identifying needs and trends for people experiencing homelessness on our campus.
