Most of social studies deals with the past. However, it is important to keep up with what is going on in the world today. Your assignment will be to find out what is going on in the world.

·  Select an article on a social studies topic from a current (no more than one month old) newspaper, magazine, or from the internet. You may only use one internet article a quarter. The article must be at least three paragraphs long.

·  Articles on sports or pop culture are not allowed.

·  Cut out the entire article or print it from the internet.

·  I will be checking spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

·  On a separate sheet of paper put the following:

* Title of the article

* Source (the specific newspaper, magazine, or internet site)

* Date of the article

*On the right side of the paper, list at least 5 summary sentences. If any of the main ideas are copied directly from the article you will receive a zero for the assignment.

*On the left side of the paper, write questions or ideas you need

more information about. You must have at least 2 questions.

*At the bottom of the page, list one new vocabulary word from

the article with the definition. Look up the definition!
