LAKECALUMET BOAT & FISHING CLUBJanuary, 2011

------

WELCOME TO THE NEW BOARD MEMBERS: Commodore – Bob Kiefer; Board Member – Nancy Kiefer; Board Member – Christine Economous; Board Member – Christopher Rhodes and Treasurer – Joe Sebek.

------

The fall work party was held on Saturday and Sunday, November 13th & 14th. There was a lot of work that needed to be done, but we persevered and completed everything on the list. The clubhouse is now CLOSED for the winter and will not re-open until the Spring.

There will be aJanuary meeting, although the date, time and place have not been decided yet. As soon as the details are ironed out, each member will receive notice either by email or a phone call.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

A decision was reached at this meeting to raise membership dues to $300 starting with the 2011 season. This increase will automatically include the price of 2 tickets to our annual open house event. The club is also suspending the $150 initiation fee for new members.

Non-Member storage was discussed and it has been decided that the club will offer storage rates of $300 per season (winter – 11/1 to 4/20 and summer – 5/1 to 10/31). Non-Members will be able to store their boats up front, behind our locked gates, but will not receive a key or access to the clubhouse or other parts of the club. In order to store their boat or pick it up, they will have to contact one of the Board Members. Payment for storage is expected when they drop off their boat. This is a GREAT deal, one of the cheapest around! If you know of someone who needs a place to store their boat, give one of the Board Members a call. Board Members can be reached as follows: Candy Schmidt – 708/597-8087; Bob & Nancy Kiefer – 708/633-1558; Chris Rhodes – 708/785-6337; Steve Law – 773/209-4166; Joel McCurdy, Sr. – 773/788-0694; Christine Economous – 708/479-3640; John Chenier – 773/566-5311 and Joe Sebek – 708/868-3579. These are also great contacts for any potential new members you may know! Let’s get out there and let everyone know about our club! We are definitely the lowest priced club on the river!

UPCOMING EVENTS:

81st Chicago Boat, RV & Outdoors Show will be held at McCormickCenter from January 12-16, 2011.

Chicagoland Outdoors Show 2011 will be held at the DonaldE.StephensConvention Center in Rosemont, IL, January 26-30, 2011.

Tinley Park Fishing & Outdoor Show will be held February 12 & 13, 2011.

THINGS TO REMEMBER:

Don’t forget…the lock to the front gate has been changed. If you do not have a new key, you MUST either show up at the next meeting to get one, or contact Bob Kiefer to arrange a time to meet with him to pick up a key.

GARBAGE – The garbage cans need to stay IN the club! If you use the club and create garbage, make sure to EMPTY the cans into the dumpsters and then RETURN them to the clubhouse!!! We have had many instances over the season where garbage cans were left outside the clubhouse and animals got into them, strewing garbage all over the grounds. It is not the responsibility of other club members to clean up YOUR mess!

If you use the clubhouse for a party it is your responsibility to clean the clubhouse before and after your event. You are also responsible for providing paper products, garbage bags, etc. The use of the clubhouse is included in your membership dues, but the products are not. It is not the clubs responsibility to provide these things for your event.

If you are at the club and turn on lights, both inside and outside, make sure to turn them off when you leave! We have had a few instances this year where folks have left the club with lights blazing! This is NOT cost effective!

Make sure to keep the front gate locked. This is one of the ways in which we keep the boats and grounds secure.

Make sure to lock the clubhouse when you are done with it.

Make sure to clean up after yourself. We all must work together to keep the clubhouse and grounds nice.

Guests at the club must ALWAYS be accompanied by a member.

If you see someone at the club that you don’t know, introduce yourself and, in a nice way, verify that they are indeed either a member, or a guest of a member. We are a family club and need to make sure that we keep our club safe and secure for all our members and guests.

Keep your eyes and ears open for new members. We have the best prices on the river and need to make sure everyone knows it!

Winter storage rates are $10/foot for members.

The website has a “Members Only” section. To access this part of the site, go to The newsletter will be posted there each month in case you are unable to print it out.

Wishing you all a healthy and prosperous 2011!
