Terms and Conditions
Please ensure the booking form is completed as we are legally required to hold details of special requirements and next of kin.
Deposit
At the time of booking, the student shall pay to Celtic Cruising Cyf. 25% deposit or full payment (if booking made within 4 weeks of the course/holiday starting), on returning the booking form at which time these Terms & Conditions shall become binding.
The balance of your course must be paid at least 1 month before your course/holiday start date. If the balance is not paid on time we may cancel your place on the course and apply the cancellation charges set out in the paragraph headed “Cancellation or Amendment” below. The course deposit is non-refundable unless we are unable to honour your original booking request.

Invoice and Booking Form - to be completed, signed & returned, together with your 25% deposit or full payment if within 1 month of the course/holiday starting
Cancellation and Amendment
In the event of you cancelling the booking more than 1 month prior to the course start date, Celtic Cruising Cyfwill be entitled to keep the deposit and refund any balance to the student.
In the event of you cancelling the booking within 1 month prior to the course/holiday start date, the course/holiday fees are not refundable.
If we are able to re-book the place on that course, a proportion of the course fee may be refunded at the discretion of Celtic cruising. Cancellation must be received in writing. Celtic Cruising may cancel the booking at any time upon repayment of all sums already paid. Refunds will be limited to fees paid.
If you wish to make any amendments to your course booking, i.e. change of date, we will make every effort to accommodate this but any changes may be subject to a sum of £20 to cover our administrative costs. Requests for amendments must be confirmed in writing.
Complaints
Should you have a complaint, in the first instance please bring it to the attention of your skipper who will try to resolve it for you. If you are not happy to do this or are not satisfied with the response you get then please submit your complaint in writing to the school principal, Richard Haig, by email or by letter.
We will acknowledge receipt of your complaint as soon as we can and will endeavour to investigate what happened as quickly as is practicable. We will respond objectively to the complainant, offering any appropriate compensation if deemed necessary.

Holidays
Please aim to joinCeltic Star at around 6.30pmthe evening before the first day.
A welcome drink and canapes will accompany the safety brief at 6.45pm.
Planning the holiday and destinations you wish to visit can be discussed before dinner and settling into your cabins.
Holidays will generally end after lunch on the last day.
Your passport and EHIC are only required on holidays cruising to Republic of Ireland
Sailing courses:
Start –6.30 pm on the evening before the first full day
Finish –4 pm on the last day (approx)
If possible bring your Passport and EHIC as sailing courses, mile buildersor Irish Sea Cruises may include a trip to Eire.
What do I need to bring?
Soft holdalls only please, for easier stowing
Warm clothes: including hat, scarf, warm gloves and thermal underwear. It is better several thin layers rather than two thick layers.If you are just starting out sailing there is no need to spend huge amounts of money on expensive clothing.
Don'tforget we can supply you with wet weather gear at £25 per week.
Don't forget sunglasses, sun cream and your wash kit.
What footwear do I need to bring?
Any non-marking trainers or shoes or deck shoes.
For courses sailing boots along with deck shoes may be advisable.
It is possible to purchase sea-boots at the chandlery in Conwy marina. Cleanwellies will also be ok.
Can I bring my mobile phone?YES.
We ask that phones are turned off whilst sailing to avoid distraction unless of course you are expecting an urgent call. Mobile phone coverage is up to approximately 10 miles from land which will generally give you coverage on all courses except distance sails. You can charge on the boat but will need your 12V car charger.
Is there parking available?
There is a large, free car park here in the Marina where you can leave you car for the duration of your stay.

Do I need insurance?
Celtic Cruisingcarries full public liability insurance for its guests.
However personal travel / cancellation / accident insurance isstrongly recommended.
Bishop Skinner are specialist insurers who offer insurance for this activity. You can contact them on 01245 291167, 5 days insurance will cost between £10 & £20.
Does your boat meet safety requirements?
Celtic Star complies with the code of practice for small commercial vessels and meets all requirements as set down by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.
What included in my course fee?
All practical sailing courses are fully inclusive of accommodation onboard, mooring fees, all meals onboard. We usually eat ashore on one evening during the course.
Wet weather gear can be hired at £25 a set /week.
Will I be able plug in my electrical appliances such as my phone charger or hairdryer?
Celtic Star has12 volt sockets or standard 3 pin plug sockets. You are more than welcome to use these sockets when you are in a marina and the boat is connected to shore power
Where will I go on my course?
You will be sailing around Anglesey, the Irish Sea, on Coastal Skipper courses we go further afield perhaps to the Isle of Man or possibly Ireland.
How many students will therebe on my boat?
Celtic Star can sleep 10 people.
For maximum comfort holidays will cater for a maximum of 7.
We take a maximum of 5 students on RYA sailing courses.
Will I have to share a cabin?
It may be necessary for you to share a cabin. Couples and friends willnormally share. If you are coming on a course on your own there is a possibility you will have to share a cabin but this would only be with someone of the same sex.
Who does the cooking onboard?
On holidays your skipper will be providing fine locally sourced food.
On courses cooking, washing up and cleaning are shared equally between all students and the instructor.
Will we be in a marina every night?
Although you will spend some nights in marinas, in order to explore some of the more beautiful locations and to get the most out of the sail cruising training you may also spend a night or two on a mooring buoy or asecluded anchorage. After all, sailing is about adventure!
Do you take under 18's on courses?
We do allow under 18's on courses when accompanied by a parent / guardian over the age of 18. Under 16's are permitted on courses when part of a group booking with at least one person over the age of 18 who is in loco parentis.
Are there washing facilities onboard the yacht?
There are heads (toilets) and showers onboard. When you are in a marina you can also use the shore-side facilities available.
Do I need to do an actual course to come sailing?
Whether you want more experience or just a break from everyday life, come along for a week or weekend sail. You do not need to be doing a particular course to come out sailing with us.
CanI smoke onboard?
Smoking is generally not permitted onboard, when the boat is anchored for the night is no access to the shore is available smoking may be permitted on part of the exterior of the vessel at the skipper’s discretion if no other guest objects.
Will I get sea sick?
Even Nelson suffered from sea sickness.
It is worth buying some motion sickness tablets such as Stugeron or Kwells from the chemist and bringing them with you.
Will I sleep alright?
Boats can be quite noisy at night, with the wind in the rigging and sometimes wavelets slapping the hull. A set of earplugs are a very good idea, you can get them from most chemists.
