Introduction: Snehalaya was established in 1989 by a zealous band of youth volunteers. It was formally registered as a NGO in 1992 at Ahmednagar (Maharashtra) and is currently working in all the 14 Tehsils of Ahmednagar District. With 315 children and 48 women in residential rehabilitation projects, 2200 children in slum based Balbhavans, about 2150 women in prostitution in Ahmednagar district, more than 3000 HIV positive patients, 268 full time workers, numerous volunteers and well-wishers, Snehalaya is a heaven of hope for the needy.

Snehalaya believes that education is the only catalyst to change the destinies of the children in slums, red light areas and other underprivileged children. Hence we requested the reputed private schools for the admissions of our children but we experienced that not a single private school was ready to admit our child, saying that he will spoil the environment of the school as well as the parents will object even if our child seat near their son or daughter. It was very discouraging experience for us, but we overcome the problems by establishing our own English Medium School in 2010, it has become a unique and only school for children in special need e.g. children. Currently 196 students are taking education in the classes LKG, UKG and first to fifth. Every year next class will be added.
