SMBC Global Foundation, Inc. invites to interview students for an Asian Scholarship program to be awarded in 2009-2010 academic year. Students enrolled at any of the participating institution who are interested in applying for a Scholarship should contact Pn. Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for an SMBC Global Foundation, Inc.’s Scholarship, a student must:
- Have demonstrated superior standards of intellectual ability, scholastic achievement and personal promise during his or her undergraduate careerand extracurricular and community service.
- Be in any year of minimum study program pursuing a bachelor's degree. A student must plan to continue full-time undergraduate study and expect to receive a baccalaureate degree.
- Be a Malaysian citizen.
- Have a documented history of receiving need-based financial aid during his or her undergraduate years (if any).In the selection process, the amount of financial need will not be a major determining factor; nevertheless, preference is given to candidates who have demonstrated superior standards of intellectual ability.
Selection Process:
Approximately 4 best individuals will be selected in a 3-stage evaluation process of candidates:
I-Review of applications with regard to eligibility criteria
II-Interview with the Selection Committee
III-Final Nominations for IIE’s approval
The candidates who are advanced to the second stage will be notified by e-mail or phone. Information on the final nominations will be mailed to the candidates in the end of November.
Required Documents:
1.) Application Form
- Detailed personal questionnaire with 1 current photograph of the candidate
b.An essay explaining your financial need
2.)Three letters of reference describe the achievements and the qualifications of the candidate as well as the expectations connected with the candidate’s further development and work in her/his chosen profession.
3.)Copy of high school transcript and (if any) latest university transcript
4.)An essay explaining the candidate’s hobbies or activities which hold significance (300 words)
5.)An essay explaining why you chose to pursue an academic or professional degree in this Department/Faculty (limit 300 words).
Financial Information:
The scholarship covers the following costs: tuition, books and study materials, room and board, and other fees.
A SMBC Global Foundation’s Scholar receives a total of USD 3,000 (Approximately 10,500.00 MYR) for Faculty of Accountancy & Managementand Faculty of Business & Finance in support of his or her undergraduate education.All payments will be given in a lump sum directly to the students by International Institute of Education, SMBC Global Foundation’s administrator.
Policies:
The following policies apply to the award:
- A scholar must be attending the University Tunku Abdul Rahmanas a full-time student in good academic standing in order to receive funding.
- A scholar must utilize all towards his/her tuition during that school year.
Scholarship Program:
1.)Award Ceremony
2.)Classes at the following universities: University of Tunku Abdul Rahman (academic year 2009/2010).
3.)A copy of transcripts at the end of the school year.
