Checklist for application for licentiate seminar or public defence of doctoral thesis
The applying student’s name:- The procedure for public defence of doctoral thesis or licentiate seminar is regulated by the Higher Education Ordinance (1993:100), Guidelines for third-cycle (doctoral) education 2015 (SLU ua 2015.1.1.1-2467) and the general syllabus for the relevant research subject. The Doctoral Education Committee (FUN) makes decisions on the authority of the Faculty Board.
- Original documents (application on specific form, declarations of interest and certified copies) must be submitted or sent to FUN, VH Faculty Office. Visiting address: Ulls hus, Almas allé 8 (4th floor). Postal address: Box7084, 75007Uppsala. Other documents may be sent as email attachments to tronically signed originals should also be sent by email, because they contain digital information.
- The persons submitting the application (usually the student and principal supervisor together) are responsible for ensuring that it is accurate and complete. If additions need to be made, there is a risk that the decision will be delayed or,in the worst case, postponed.
- Please ensure that the application is complete, but avoid including unnecessary material as this only creates additional work. The documents in the application should be organised as follows in order to facilitate the assessment. The director of studies of the department should help by checking the application before it is submitted.
- To enable a decision to be made in a meeting, the application must have been received by FUN at least 2 weeks in advance of the meeting and no later than 12 weeks prior to the planned public defence of the doctoral thesis or licentiate seminar.
