Smartphone apps introduced to fruit growers
Cambridge, 25 July 2012
Fruit growers will be given the chance to try Bayer CropScience’s new smart phone applications (apps) at the Fruit Focus show.
Three apps have been developed by the firm, although the product manual app will be of most interest to specialist fruit growers. That application will help any users of Bayer CropScience products find key information about a product quickly and easily on the move, rather than relying on a hard copy manual or needing internet access.
“We know referring to key information about our products is an important requirement for growers and agronomists,” said Mike Abram, the firm’s PR and communications manager.
Since the new look Bayer CropScience website was launched in March 2011 there had been nearly 6000 downloads of the product manual from the site, he said.
“The smartphone app is designed to make finding that information even easier, and will always have the most up-to-date information loaded.”
Along with the product manual app, Bayer CropScience has also developed apps for identifying key arable weeds and pests, based on popular handbooks.
All the apps are free to download from either iTunes or the Android app stores. To learn more about the features of each app watch videos at
Both the Weed Guide and Pest Spotter handbooks, which the identifcation apps are based on, have also been updated and are available by registering for a copy online at
