Smart Shopping System using RFID
Abstract:
A Smart Shopping System has the feature of automatic billing when a customer carries a basketful of items through RFID antennas. The RFID antennas sense these items using multiple RFID Tag reader and generate the bill automatically. The RFID tags used on the items will be Ultra High Frequency (UHF).
Users can be registered or nonregistered. The registered user will be get a NFC card (Smart Card)which can be recharged by paying required amount in the same shop. If the customer is busy then he can just shop and shows his card for payment. Nonregistered users need to pay the cash at the counter when the bill is generated within few seconds.
Existing system:
- In the existing system, the person who wants to buy products he will order his item to shopkeeper.
- The shopkeeper will manually pack items and then he makes a bill.
- Now, bill is paid manually by cash.
- Other thing, shopping through online.
Disadvantage of Existing System:
Existing system is not based on RFID technique. It does not provide automatic bill generation process. It is a slower process.
Proposed System:
- To overcome the existing system. I like to propose RFID for retail shopkeepers (Shopping malls).
- To reduce time and bill rates.
- Every product contains RFID tag this tag is mapped to product,
- Customer possess Smart card (Ex: Reliance one card),
- This card possess customer’sname, ID, balance details, address.
- This card is scanned and money will be automatically deducted , if any insufficient balance then money is paid manually by cash
Modules:
- Admin Module:
Admin can add the products, issue the cards, recharge the cardsand update the quantity after successfully login.
- Customer Module:
Customer can purchase the product and they can get generated bill automatically.
- RFID Reader and Tag
An RFID tag, consists of a chip and an antenna. A chip can store a unique serial number or other information based on the tag’s type of memory, which can be read-only, read-write, or write once read-many (WORM). The antenna, which is attached to the microchip, transmits information from the chip to the reader, In order for an RFID system to function, it needs a reader, or scanning device, that is capable of reliably reading the tags and communicating the results to a database. A reader uses its own antenna to communicate with the tag. When a reader broadcasts radio waves, all tags designated to respond to that frequency and within range will respond. A reader also has the capability to communicate with the tag without a direct line of sight.
