First Announcement & Call for Papers
The organization committee of UNINFOS´98 has the pleasure to invite you to the international conference of representatives from Universities, Higher education institutes and other organizations that are interested indevelopment of university information systems.
In April 1995 UNINFOS´95, the First Conference on University Information Systems, was organized bySlovak Agricultural University inNitra. Itwas very well received and 160participants at the conclusion of the Conference voted to organize UNINFOS regularly due to the very rapid development in the field of information systems recently.
The next conferences on University Information Systems, UNINFOS´96 organized at Slovak Agricultural University in Nitra and UNINFOS´97 at Technical University in Košice covered wider range ofproblems and focused also on the field ofapplication ofinformation technologies at universities inSlovakia.
Development ofan information system isavery big and difficult task that brings along many problems. The problems are similar at most of universities and therefore universities should solve this problems together inorder to minimize the costs ofdevelopment. We believe that EUNIS Slovakia will help with solving this problems. Program of EUNIS Slovakia is very close to program of UNINFOS and that is why the plenary assembly of EUNIS Slovakia will be a part of the Conference.

Presentation ofmodern information technologies used indevelopment ofuniversity information systems
Presentation ofmodern information technologies used in education viaINTERNET and intranet
Evaluation of present state and exchange of experiences indeveloping university information systems in Slovakia and abroad
Plenary assembly of EUNIS Slovakia (amember of EUNIS — European UNiversity Information System organization — that associates people responsible for development, operation and administration of university information systems and everybody interested in)
The conference will welcome representatives from all universities and higher education institutions in the Slovak Republic and some participants from abroad.
University information systems make university management and administration effective and indirectly support effectivity ofeducation process (information systems Student, Library, Education Planning, Study Programs etc.). Conferences — as this one — arebig contribution tothis process.
