Slipper Project - Scheme of Work

In this lesson students shall be introduced to their new project brief. They shall be shown images of exemplar slippers and given a project information sheet and exemplar design work booklet.
The breakdown of this project is similar to the year 7 project but this time the students will be making a 3D product that will challenge their design and making skills.

  • To create a final slipper design with colour and annotation

  • To cut-out paper template of slipper pattern
  • To pin the template pieces to the chosen fabric
  • To cut –out the pattern pieces
During this lesson each student shall be given a template booklet that features all pattern pieces required to make a boot slipper. Students who do not wish to make a boot slipper can use the sole and upper pattern pieces to make a ballet-pump style slipperetc.
Students shall also be given a step-by-step guide showing them how to create a slipper. This is to promote independent learning in order to find the information themselves before having to ask a teacher for help.
Once the students have cut-out the paper templates they shall need to pin them onto the chosen fabric and cut them out.

  • To accurately construct the pair of slippers
Throughout this time the students shall be given various class demonstrations showing how the slipper pattern is sewn together .   • To complete the slipper project
This lesson will be spent completing the slipper project i.e. ensuring all research and design work is detailed and well presented, ensuring that the slippers have been made to a high quality and finished to a high standard and that an evaluation has also been completed in exercise books. / 1.2a, 1.4b, c, 2f, g, h 3d, 4a, c, f / Sewing machines
