Slide 3 - Oracle Field Service Cloud Release 16.8

Slide notes

Hello, my name is Erik. Welcome to training for Oracle Field Service Cloud, Release 16.8.

In this session we will talk about what’s coming in Oracle Field Service Cloud for enhancements to resource configuration through the Field Resource Manager feature in Mobility.

Notes

Slide 4 - Agenda

Slide notes

For the enhancements covered in this training, we’ll give an overview, followed by more detail to explain how you can use them, and what business value they bring.

Then we’ll walk you through a demonstration.

Next, we’ll explain what you need to consider before enabling these features in your business, and what you need to know to set them up.

Slide 5 - Enhancements Overview

Slide notes

In Oracle Field Service Cloud version 16.8, we’ve expanded the functionality available through the Field Resource Manager feature in Mobility to provide supervisors in the field additional flexibility to manage resource data as needed. These new capabilities are another step toward completely optimized field service management without the need for centralized dispatch.

Resource properties can now be edited, based on configuration by user type and system safeguards

Resource settings, including the resource’s calendar, locations, work skills, and work zones can be modified. The screens in which these settings can be managed have also been optimized for mobile devices.

And finally, we’ve replaced the process for accessing resource routes on different days. Previously this was done by via a separate Calendar tab, but routes can be displayed on different dates directly from the Activity list.

Notes

Slide 6 - Edit Resource Properties

Slide notes

With 16.8, the resource properties included on the Short Information and Additional Information cards on the Resource Information screen can be edited in Mobility’s Field Resource Manager.

The Short Information card containsthe name and photo of the resource, if available, plus the first six properties configured on the Resource Info context layout.

The Additional Information card contains the fields configured in the Resource Info context layout except those fields already shown in the Short information section.

Both predefined and custom properties can be included. Which properties are included, as well as the order, configured by user type.

Notes

Slide 7 - Manage Resource Settings

Slide notes

The next enhancement we’ll cover is the ability to manage resource settings in the different cards in the Resource Information screen. We’ll walk through the processes for adjusting each during the Demo portion of this presentation, but for now we’ll cover the different settings included. The four settings included in this section are:

• Locations – which include the addresses that a resource is expected to start and finish their day, as well as a home location that helps determines the home zone area used in Routing.

• Resource Calendar – which contains an overview of the individual resources work schedule for the month, showing working and on-call hours as well as non-working time.

• Work Skills – which help define what activities the resource is able to do, along with their level of qualification for each skill, and

• Work Zones – which show the areas in which the resource is permitted to work.

Whether a manager can see and adjust each of those settings is determined by the configuration of the Resource Info context layout, which is set up for each individual User Type.

Notes

Slide 8 - Activity List Date Selection

Slide notes

The activity list shows the resource’s route for today by default. If you need to see the resource’s route for a different day, that previously required you to open the Calendar link which took you to a different screen where you would select the date you wanted. In OFSC 16.8, the “switch date” functionality has been moved to the activity list itself.

Tapping the header with the resource name and date will bring up a panel where the current date is highlighted in red. The panel slides both left and right and you can select a new date simply by tapping on it. The activity list will change to show the route for that date as it stands currently. A quick note – as all other Calendar functions are accessible via the Calendar card on the Resource Info tab, the Calendar screen has been removed from the system.

Notes

Slide 9 - Field Resource Manager Expansion

Slide notes

The addition of these enhancements to the Field Resource Manager feature in OFSC Mobility enables end-to-end management of field resources via mobile devices. Mobile employees now have access to functionality that was previously only available through the Core Manage interface. Configuration, by user type, determines which functionality is available, so self-management for field employees can be supported where and to the degree appropriate for your business needs.

Slide 62 - Summary of Enhancement Capabilities

Slide notes

Here is the summary of the enhancements to OFSC Mobility’s Field Resource Manager feature that I have talked about today:

• First, we’ve added the ability to edit resource properties, including predefined properties and custom properties, directly through the Resource Information screen. This will provide supervisors in the field increased flexibility when it comes to managing mobile resources.

• We’ve also made it possible to manage resource settings, including resource calendars, locations, work skills, and work zones in the same screen. With access configured by user type and a focus on mobile-friendly design, tasks that were previously only available in Core Manage can now be done in the field.

• Finally, we’ve simplified and clarified the calendar functionality, making date selection for the Activity List available in the Activity List, while consolidating other calendar tasks into the Resource Information screen.

Notes

Slide 63 - Additional Information

Slide notes

There are a few important points we want to highlight regarding the enhancements covered in this training.

• First, the Resource Management features – including editing resource properties and managing resource settings, as well as the Activity List date selection, are only available in online mode.

• Second, there is a limited list of predefined properties which can be added to the Resource Info screen.

• Third, all types of custom properties except for “file” type properties can be added to the Resource Info screen

• And finally, permissions and visibility assigned to users before the upgrade will be automatically applied, so no additional setup is required. New user types, or existing user type which did not previously have permissions or visibility to the functionality, will need to be properly configured.

Slide 64 - Implementation Advice

Slide notes

In this implementation advice section we will go through what you need to consider before enabling these features in your business, and what you need to know to set them up.

Notes

Slide 65 - Feature Impact Guidelines

Slide notes

This table depicts key upgrade information for the new features covered in this training.

The Field Resource Manager enhancements discussed today are automatically available after upgrade and are included in shipped job roles. No additional setup is required.

Notes

Slide 66 - Job Roles

Slide notes

This table details the shipped job roles that will access the new capabilities covered in this training.

The single job role that every instance of OFSC will have is the Privileged Administrator role. Customers can create additional job roles that will have access to these features, provided the role has access to the company User Types screen and the appropriate configuration.

Security roles have not changed as a result of these enhancements.

Notes

Slide 67 - Business Process Information

Slide notes

The business processes associated with the new capabilities covered in this training are detailed here

All of the resource configuration activities and tasks listed here were previously only possible in the Core Manage interface, so the significant change with this release is the ability to perform them via the Field Resource Manager feature in OFSC Mobility. All of the activities and tasks can still be completed through Core Manage as well.

Resource property management can now be accomplished in the Mobility interface. The specific tasks involved would be adding or modifying resource properties.

Resource settings can also now be managed in the Mobility interface. The specific tasks involved would be adding or modifying resource locations, work skills, and work zones.

Resource Calendars can be managed through the Mobility interface as well. The specific tasks involved would be adding and modifying resource shifts, including working time, on-call shifts, and non-working time.

This concludes this presentation, thank you for listening. You can easily pause and rewind any of these slides if you require additional time to take in the detail.
