SLEEVE TYPE VOLLEYBALL SYSTEM
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.01 SUMMARY
A.Section Includes:
1.Provide (1)pair of competition volleyball standards and related floor sleeves where noted. Each pair of standards to consist of (1)reel post and (1)end post.
2.Provide floor sleeves which are compatible with volleyball standards specified.
3.Provide (1)net for each pair of standards.
B.Related Work By Others:
1.Gymnasium Wood Flooring Contractor shall install volleyball floor sleeve in flooring system.
1.02 SUBMITTALS
A.General Requirements: Provide submittals in accordance with Section 013300.
B.Product Data: Submit complete specifications and description of products provided.
C.Installation Recommendations: Submit installation instructions for floor sleeves.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.01 MANUFACTURER
A.Acceptable Manufacturers: Subject to compliance with requirements of the Contract Documents, acceptable manufacturers are as follows or Owner approved equal:

2.02 FLOOR SLEEVES FOR VOLLEYBALL STANDARDS
A.Description of Floor Sleeve:
1.Heavy wall steel tubing, of appropriate diameter to receive volleyball standards specified, extending a minimum of 9inches below finish floor.
2.Bottom of sleeve to be capped.

3.Sleeve assembly to be galvanized.
B.Description of Cover Plate:
1.Cover plate to be flush with finished floor surface and of design which allows for expansion and contraction of floating athletic flooring systems.
2.Cover to be minimum 8inches in diameter.
3.Cover plate assembly to consist of cast aluminum mounting flange, gasket, and chrome plated cover.
4.Equip cover with locking mechanism operated by removable key.
2.03 COMPETITION SLEEVE-TYPE ALUMINUM VOLLEYBALL STANDARDS
A.Posts:
1.Material: Extruded, Type 6063T6, high strength aluminum tubing with internal reinforcing rib and external groove to engage adjustable collar assembly.
2.Diameter: Minimum 3 1/2inch outside diameter.
3.Finish: Clear anodized finish.
4.End Caps: Provide both ends of posts with molded, composite type caps which will protect floor finish when moving standards.
B.Adjustable Collar Assembly:
1.Collar to be easily adjustable for instant net height settings for tennis, badminton, and volleyball, from 6'1" to 8'4" in 1inch increments to meet USVBA, NCAA, and NFSHSA requirements for competition and all age group height settings from elementary school use to international competition for men and women.
2.Provide posts with height marking labels for net height settings.
3.Collar assembly to engage groove in post to prevent rotational movement of collar and engage indent of competitive net heights.
4.Provide collar with a positive locking system which is easily operated without use of tools.
C.Tensioning Winch Assembly:
1.Winch to have selflocking ratchet mechanism with compression, discbrake type release mechanism which eliminates sudden release of cable when removing net.

2.Brake mechanism to be selfadjusting to compensate for wear.
3.Ratchet and brake mechanism to be completely enclosed by steel cover.
4.Provide winch with heavy nylon tension strap and forged snap hook mechanism which allows for height adjustment but eliminates need for cables to wrap on which drum.
5.Provide removable winch handle.
2.04 VOLLEYBALL NET
A.Description:
1.Size: Net to be 32feet long by 36inches high.
2.Material: 4inch square black nylon or polyester cord.
3.Hem: Provide reinforced vinyl hem around perimeter of net with grommets at (4)corners. Provide tie cords.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 INSTALLATION OF FLOOR SLEEVE
A.General Requirements: Install sleeve in accordance with sleeve manufacturer's instructions.
