SKYWARN Service Net
(As This Net is a training for emergency nets, it should be conducted in a business manner that quickly moves through the check-in and announcements, bulletins, comments as it would be during an emergency. It is expected that those that checked in should drop off with the closing. This Service Net will be conducted on the 147.030 repeater) whenever possible).

Preamble

“Does anyone need to use the frequency before I call the Sumter County SKYWARN Net?”
“This is a regularly scheduled SERVICE Net that is conducted in accordance with the NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE and the cooperation of Sumter County Emergency Management in order to:
1. check all aspects of our communications systems
2. pass information, particularly weather information from your location.
This is a Directed Net – please use standard net procedure and foiiow the instructions of Net Control. My Assistant Net Control is __(Call Sign)___.” If there is a repeater failure, we will move to the W4OE repeater (146.925 MHz).
Check-in
“When checking in, please indicate whether you have traffic for the Net. If no traffic, you do not have to indicate. Spotter check-in will be taken after mobile or short time stations, then Sumter County check-ins will be taken, and finally stations outside of Sumter County may check in”
1. “Are there any mobile or short time stations wishing to check in?”
2. “I will begin the Sumter County Check-ins with:
a. Spotter check-ins with just your Call Sign and NWS ID.”
(From NWS roster or first come check-ins. Note those that have Traffic.)
b.”Sumter County check-ins with Call Sign from active roster/check-in”
(Refer to Net Roster beginning with Active Members or first come check- ins)
c. “Are there any other check-ins from Sumter County?
3. Now calling for stations outside Sumter County.”
Body
Call on those, individually, that have indicated that they have TRAFFIC for the Net.
“Is there any other Traffic (Announcements/Bulletins/Comments)?”
“Are there any questions or comments?”
“Are there any stations I did not call, failed to hear, or running late?”
*Is there anything the Net can do for anyone before we begin closing the Net?”
Closing
“You are all invited to the next scheduled Net at 2030 Eastern time for the next weekly net session. Your Net Control will be ______.”
“In the event of severe weather at your location or a weather radio call out, this repeater will be activated as a Standby Weather Net on the KJ4AN / Repeater on a coordinated frequency of 147.030 MHz access tone of 123 Hz. Please monitor the KJ4AN / REPEATER during any call-out activity for check-ins, spotter reports, and updates. Our backup Simplex net frequency is 147.585 MHz.
