SKKU Department of Architecture Exchange Student Programs

Application Procedure:

Students have to submit their application in both printed (postbox department office) and electronic format () to Prof. Thorsten Schuetze. The application has to consist of the following material:

  • An essay (written in English) of maximum 2 pages A4. The essay has to contain the following information:
  • Motivation to study abroad
  • Priority list for specific Universities (1., 2., 3., 4.)
  • Intended length of stay (1 or 2 semesters)
  • Language certificate (requirements and deadlines see below)
  • Copy of official SKKU Certificate with grades of all courses.

Compulsory Deadlines:

  • 1 May 2015is the deadline for submission of application form for Spring Semester 2016
  • Students will be informed until the end of May 2015 if they are accepted or not (conditional acceptance in case of language certificate absence)
  • Deadline Language certificate submission 1 September2015 (Spanish and Italian Universities) or 1 November (German University) for final acceptance (see also requirements below)

Compulsory requirementsfor the participation in the Globalization Program*of the Department of Architecture, Sungkyunkwan University, Korea

* Applicable for both Exchange Student Programs with partner universities and Visiting Student Programs with non-partner universities, if not stated differently in the requirements.

Minimumrequirements for eligibility (study achievements):

  • Students have to have achieved at least one A+ (4.5) or A (4.0) grade for one of their Architectural Design Studio works.
  • Students applying for ETSAG (Granada, Spain), EUROPEA (Madrid, Spain) ETSAM (Madrid, Spain), IUAV (Venice, Italy) or HCU (Hamburg, Germany):
  • Students may apply earliest after completion of their 2nd year of study.
  • Students have to have completed all compulsory courses of the first 3 years of their study, including Design studios 1-4, at SKKU Department of Architecture prior to their study abroad.

Minimumrequirements for eligibility (language skills):

Students who want to participate in the international Exchange Student Programs and Visiting Student Programs of the Department of Architecture, Sungkyunkwan University, haveto proof their foreign language skills (including reading, writing, listening and speaking)by internationally accepted certifications.The detailed requirements are:

General requirement: For all students participating in Visiting and Exchange Student Programs. For Spanish and Italian Universities (UEM, ETSAM*, ETSAG* & IUAV*) an English language test certification is required. The minimum scores and accepted certification types are:TOEIC: 650,TOEFL PBT: 503,TOEFL CBT: 190,TOEFL IBT: 70,IELTS: 5.0.

*Exceptions: Students meeting the following requirements don't need to hand in English language test certifications:

  • Students applying for ETSAG (Granada) and ETSAM (Madrid) submit a Spanish language test certificate.The minimum score and accepted certification type is: (Instituto Cervantes: A2.
  • Students applying for IUAV (Venice)submit an Italian language test certificate.The minimum score and accepted certification type is:(Instituto Italiano di Cultura: A2 (CELI 1, CILS A2), PLIDA A2).

Students applying to study at a foreign University during the Spring Semester have to hand in their language certifications latest the year before prior to the following due dates:

교환 프로그램 선정을 위한 제출 서류 :

1. 영어 능력 자격 증명서 (2014년 가을 학기부터는 apply 전에 자격을 충족하여야 함)

2. A4 두 페이지의 영어 에세이

- 에세이는 교환 프로그램 참여 목적과 무엇을 얻고자 하는지 기술할 것

- 어느 나라 어느 학교에 가고 싶은지 순위를 매겨 기술할 것

- 교환 프로그램 기간을 명시할 것 (1학기 또는 2학기)

성적 자격요건:

- 설계스튜디오 과목중 에서최소한번이상의 A+ (4.5) 혹은 A (4.0) 성적을 취득한 학생

- IUAV(이태리 베니스) HCU( 독일함부르그) 에 신청 경우

: 교환프로그램 참여 전에 2학년이나 3학년을 마친 학생만 가능

- EETSAG(스페인 그라나다) 와 EUROPEA(스페인 마드리드) 와 ETSAM(스페인 마드리드) 에 신청 경우

: 교환프로그램 참여 전에 1학년과 2학년을 마친 학생만 가능

언어능력 자격요건: (2014 가을학기 부터는 영어 능력 자격을 입증한 학생만 apply가 가능합니다.)

1. 성균관대학교 건축학과의교환학생 프로그램 참여를 희망하는 학생은 읽기, 쓰기, 듣기, 말하기 능력 등을 포함한 외국어 능력을 국제적으로 인정하는 증명서를 통해아래와 같이 입증하여야 함.
