Committees

Publicity – Deborah Mowrey Chairperson

The Publicity Committee is responsible for creating opportunities in the community to highlight KAD activities.

1. Through use of media this includes 1) monitoring local newspapers and websites for events, 2) writing letters to the editor and building a network of potential writers, 3) taking pictures at KAD events, 4) writing notifications of KAD meetings for local newspapers, 5) maintaining the KAD blog.

2. Through community outreach this includes 1) organizing club participation in various community service activities, 2) helping to organize and staff KAD booths at local community events.

Membership – Marc Croes Chairperson

The KAD membership committee is responsible for member retention and new member recruitment. This is accomplished by:
1. A telephone campaign late every year reminding current members to renew their membership.
2. An annual telephone campaign reaching out to former members.
3. Design and printing of KAD recruiting materials.
4. Assisting Publicity Committee at public events by staffing booth and recruiting new members.
5. Attending events in the Kingwood/Humble area where potential members may gather, and recruiting new members at those events.
6. Contacting known Democratic voters in the Kingwood/Humble area and extending invitations to join KAD.

Programs–Fred Rosenberg Chairperson

The KAD programs committee is responsible for planning programs for the KAD membership. This includes:

1. The Program Committee shall meet, beginning in January after the election of officers, to plan the year's programs from February through the following January according to guidelines put forth by the Executive Board. It is anticipated that the Committee will work closely with the Board to plan programs that meet the club's objectives involving current topics, elections, fund raisers, etc.

2. Programs for the year should be planned as early as possible in the calendar year, identifying months when there will be specific events such as the July 4th barbecue, holiday party, etc. The types of programs desired for each month should be identified as early as possible; e.g. speaker on topic such as education, the environment, immigration, etc, fundraiser, social, etc.

3. The Committee will contact prospective speakers and confirm them a few daysbefore the meeting. If a special venue is needed for the event, the Committee will work with the board to secure it.

Voter Registration –Barbara Madera Chairperson

The Voter Registration Committee is responsible for locating/creating opportunities in the community for voter registration and our participation there.

1. Organizing club participation in various community events where voter registration is a feasible activity.

2. Providing information to KAD members about training opportunities/updates to become a Deputy Voter Registrar including dates & times, contact information and locations.

3. Organize school-based voter registration activities in local high schools, community colleges etc.

Hospitality – Sue Pilko Chairperson

The KAD refreshments committee is responsible for:

1. Arranging for refreshments at regular KAD meetings.

2. Purchasing (reimbursed by KAD) and bringing drinks and wine and paper goods to each meeting.

3. Circulating a signup list to obtain the commitment of KAD members to assist by providing refreshments for meetings.

4. Emailing a reminder to members bringing refreshments prior to each meeting

Fundraising- Tony Morales Chairperson

The KAD fundraising committee is responsible for club fundraising. This is accomplished by:
1. Designing and producing advertising for KAD fundraising events.
2. Organize events that raise funds for KAD
