  2. 2/3 pass rule to be voted on

2 Pass rule was rejected by a vote of 10 – 4 for 7/8B

2 Pass rule was rejected by a vote of 10 – 4 for 7/8AB

2 Pass rule was unanimously rejected for 7/8A

Based on vote of the clubs present there will be a 2 pass rule for all skill brackets at the 5/6 level.

Based on vote of the clubs present there will not be a 2 pass for any skill bracket at the 7/8 level.

2 pass rule: 2 passes, counting goalie clears, must be completed before a shot on goal can be taken. Once two passes are completed and the ball is in the attack zone (below the restraining line) and a change of possession occurs, the defense must clear the restraining line to re-instate two passes should another change of possession occur. E.G. Team A gains possession of the ball. Team A makes two passes and gains the offensive zone they are now eligible to shoot on goal. Team B gains possession either via save/missed shot or good defensive play and team B fails to clear their restraining line before team A regains possession, team A is eligible to go straight to goal and is not required to make two passes. If team B clears their restraining line then team A regains possession, team A is now required to make two passes.

  1. Age group (3/4, 5/6, 7/8 vs. U15, U13, U11, U9)
  2. US Lacrosse is mandating this change
  3. SJYL has already made the change
  4. Insurance/liability issues

There was significant protest in the room over changing to the schedule to U – format. US Lacrosse findings of reduced injury rate and other studies showing U – format to be beneficial presented by both Steve McKinney and SJYLL President,Brian Stahr. Liability possibilities by not following US Lacrosse guidelines also presented.

Arguments from a majority of the room that discussion at previous meeting have resulted, and are documented in previous meeting minutes, that the league would stay with grade format. The timing of the change in January is not manageable by individual clubs with registrations closed or closing. Appeal to SJYLL President Brian Stahr concluded that there is no conflict with US Lacrosse if we remain grade format this year.

The consensus of the room was to stay grade format for this year and change next year. No vote was taken.

  1. New Business
  2. New Application for League Membership
  3. Collingswood Rec League Lacrosse
  4. Contact is Julie Rothwell

  7. Issues?

Collingswood rep, Julie Rothwell, presented the room the status of their organization and desire for membership. The league application was reported to have been submitted but not on hand at the meeting.

The league outlined expectations to the Collingswood rep including the US Lacrosse membership requirements, town/sending high school player eligibility requirements, field requirements, and there is no scooper schedule.

Collingswood still maintained their desire to join.

A poll of the of the room found no issues.

Collingswood was unanimously accepted into the league on probationary status.

  1. League coaches clinic – 2/11
  2. Trying to host at Cherokee
  3. Try and require all coaches to be there

Announce made of the coaches clinic as tentative

  1. Clearview looking for validation that we are staying with A, A/B, and C skill brackets and that the A bracket is the only championship bracket. – Confirmed
  2. Mt.Laurel looking for clarification of the uniform rules as outlined by US Lacrosse. This rule is loosely enforced. As long as the team is uniformed the same and can be clearly differentiated from the opposition there the officials have not in the passed enforced a uniform rule.
  3. Due to Easter falling on the last weekend of March, the weekend of April 6/7th will be the first games on the schedule.
  4. Tentative tournament date is June 9th, that date raised considerable concern for both official and club availability. Past years the tournament has always been the first weekend in June. Running this weekends, conflicts with summer club play and possible summer activities especially for shore towns. Marlton maybe have restricted field space on the first weekend in June. Marlton Ken Krug will be reaching out the officials to discuss officials availability then a broadcast to the league to determine how many clubs will be affected by the June 9th date before further decision is made.
