Sixth Grade Year Plan 2014-15

Students are expected to speak English and only English. The sixth grade is when many students start to become much more comfortable with speaking fluently in English. They are given the opportunity in each unit to practice speaking naturally, comfortably and correctly. We use partner work, Cooperative Learning, role-play, public speaking (presentations) and dialogue to strengthen speaking skills. Reading, reading comprehension, questioning and answering skills are built into individual units. We also have a regular ‘story time’ where stories are read out-loud to the group. Grammar is touched on in each unit and practiced in “Let’s Do It’ and “Break” workbooks. This is often given as homework. We work hard and learn a lot, while having fun.
