Sixth Form Scholarships
Dear Parents/Guardians
You will be aware that Croydon High School offers a number of Sixth Form Scholarships every year. These scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic ability.This year Croydon High School will also be offering up to two Sixth Form Art Scholarships, Theatre Studies Scholarships, Music Scholarships (including the Jacqueline du Pré Scholarship) and Sports Scholarships.
Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of competitive examinations/assessments that will be held on Saturday 26thNovember 2016from 9.00am until 12.30pm. These examinations are designed to push candidates beyond the understanding and skills demanded at GCSE level so as to ascertain those who possess exceptional academic ability.
Candidates for the academic scholarships will sit three papers,lasting one hour each. Two of these will be in subjects that they wish to study at A Level from the following list: Biology, Chemistry, English, French, Geography, German, History, Latin, Mathematics, Music, Physics,Religious Studies, Spanish and the third will be a General Paper which will assess the candidates’ wider abilities to reason and respond to issues. Candidates who only wish to apply for the Art, Theatre Studies, Music or Sports Scholarship will sit the General Paper and be practically assessed in their chosen discipline.
The examinations are open to all Year 11 pupils at Croydon High School and to pupils from other schools who have expressed a desire to join our Sixth Form.
If you would like to enter your daughter for the Academic Scholarship examinations, please complete the accompanying form and return it to Mrs Smith by Monday 7th November2016at the latest.
