Feedback on FIP
Creating a Welcoming School Environment
●Summary - how do we support transitions and help people feel welcomed
●We feel like we’re doing all of the strategies
●“Transitions between schools”
○Could add something about transition to Northeast about the shadowing day, picnic, etc.
●Could display more student culturally relevant artwork near the entrance of the school
●Comment box needs to be in the main office
Partnering with Families
●Sharing the FIP
○We need to do this via backpacks and copies in office
●Need to create a FIP survey to all families to gather information for next year
Communication and Access
●Summary - make sure everyone understands what’s happening here at Pillsbury and that they receive the information in their language
●Ensure all of the community partners are listed in the FIP
●Ensure communication about what is happening goes to all families
○Ex. SPED families who go to resource room may miss out on communication
○Ensure all teachers are informed as well
Capacity building
●We will encourage Families to attend monthly Parent Advisory Council Meetings (Latino PAC, Somali PAC, Hmong PAC, African American PAC, District PAC, & BOE PACs).●We should invite leaders from the PAC to come here
●Family listening session
●Need cultural affinity groups

●Can we survey families about meeting times?

Engaging families in academic achievement
●¨Teachers will send short, informative notes to report Student Progress weekly or bi-weekly.
