March 11, 2013

Greetings in Christ,

"Whatever it takes" is the theme of this year's Annie Armstrong Easter Offering. Are you willing to do whatever it takes to share GOOD NEWS with those around you that are trapped in Spiritual Darkness? If not, why?

Acts 15 and 16 have become very meaningful to me. The Apostle Paul outlines for us that Christians are to embrace a "Whatever it takes" kind of attitude when it relates to reaching people for Christ. The Apostle Paul reveals his whatever it takes attitude at the beginning of Acts 16 when he and Timothy follow an important Jewish ritual (circumcision, for the inquiring mind). This was a huge deal to those of Gentile and Jewish background. In Acts 15, Paul shared with the Jerusalem Council that as followers of Christ, we should not make it difficult for Gentile believers by forcing circumcision upon them. It is by grace alone we are saved. So why this treatment for Timothy? The reason is simple: He was headed to a Jewish community, and although Timothy did not need to be circumcised to be saved, he needed to be circumcised to get into the synagogue. For Paul, it was about doing whatever it takes to reach the lost. This is evidence that Paul meant what he wrote in 1 Corinthians 9:22, “I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some.”

What about us? Would we be willing to do whatever it takes to build a bridge for the gospel of Christ? I ask again; if not, why? Church, this is our mandate. This is in line with the testimony of Jesus' life. This is why we are here! Please begin to pray along with me that this attitude of "WHATEVER IT TAKES" would become more than an Annie Armstrong Easter Offering tagline and would define our heart for reaching the lost all around us.

In Him,

Bro. Chris

GA & RA NEWS

The GA’s & RA’s from our church join thousands of children across North America in hands-on ministry in their communities each February for Children’s Ministry Day! HBC traveled to The Geneva Baptist Association to help at the mission store. The children helped unpack and straighten items that have been donated to the store. After we finished, we went back to the church for snacks and games. Thank you Scattering Seeds for donating the chilidogs.

March-GA’s & RA’s will be introduced to the “Windy City” of Chicago, IL. More than 10 million people live in Chicago and its surrounding suburbs-people from many nations, ethnicities, languages and religions. Children will discover how missionaries share the gospel and start new churches in this multi-cultural city. Don’t miss getting BLOWN AWAY.lol.
