Executive Summary
-Human Resources
  • Dave Murphy will be retiring in February 2010. He currently supports the components of the Financial Aid system that still reside on the mainframe. His workload is being transitioned to another IS programmer and an effort is underway to identify and document all of the processes Dave has been supporting.
  • Kamal Muthuswamy has tendered his resignation effective December 14th. Kamal is the technology lead over the Java application development group.
  • Sona Sona (Kamal Muthuswamy’s spouse) is expected to tender her resignation soon, but it is not yet clear what her last day will be. Sona is an application developer who specializes in the Java application development language.
  • The university freeze committee has approved for Information Technology Services to fill these two pending vacancies immediately.
-Graduate Admissions Application–Development on the main application is 77% complete; work is on schedule to finish January 20, 2010. However, two development resources will be leaving the project on or before January 6, 2010 which may impact the timeline and milestone dates. Project working team meetings are on schedule (weekly) and campus open forums on schedule (monthly).
-Departmental Refund Tool – Business Analysis Team continues to gather business requirements and document functional requirements. Development is progressing as requirements are solidified. Weekly meetings with developers and customers will start again the week of January 11, 2010.
-SFS Request to Combine Federal and State checks into one- completed and moved to production.
-FSU Foundation ACH Awards - scheduling Foundation Financial awards so they don’t have be manually entered.

-DER File Transmission to report Bright Futures eligibility at the end of FALL– sent file to OSFA.
-Spring 2010 loans have been transmitted for disbursement to COD – ready for disbursement on January 11 after mid-night.
-2011 ISIR display, receipt and data entry - completed phase one and are awaiting customer testing.
-Financial Aid System Documentation–The project charter is complete; the review of potential documentation targets is in progress. The intent will be to document the entire Financial Aid process stream utilizing standard ITS documentation methodologies.
-FsaAtlas/SEVIS II Upgrade – Working with the InternationalCenter on the prospects for upgrading their FsaAtlas to be compliant with the new SEVIS II federal reporting system. Opportunities to leverage outside application specific expertise are being considered where appropriate.
-Dean of Students Incident Reporting application–Completed implementation of a new feature allowing uploads of scanned documentation into the incident reporting database; added a spell checker as requested.
-Student Government Elections rewrite - Completed rewrite including new screen presentation layer with a one-page ballot; added additional security restrictions to limit who can vote on certain items; need to address distance learning students and Panama City Campus student locations; Extensive testing is required in order to complete this request and move it to production. The expected production date is after the upcoming election.
-Circus Summer Camp Registration application-Implemented new logic to allow applicants to switch camp weeks during registration and add additional reporting. Registration will not be turned on until mid-February because there are only two PayPal accounts available from FSU Foundation There is a PayPal account for Student Values application and a PayPal account for Parent’s Weekend. Circus Summer Camp Registration application will be using the PayPal account from Student Values application to process payments. Student Values stops registration processing February 10, 2010.
-Student Values Conference Registration Application– completed modifications to upload new flyer; change information in email confirmation letter and correct an error in late registration fee; Registration will end February 10, 2010.
-WENS Import Information Exchange– Omni data feed has been development and is currently in testing. Information required for the 3rd party vendor is present in the test data feed. Target date for production move is on or before January 15, 2010.
-Business Objects / Oracle BI transition – Student Systems Reporting will be transitioned from Business Objects to Oracle BI. The project kick-off meeting was held on November 18, 2009. The Reporting staff is working on a Project Plan, which includes the addition of contract resources to help facilitate the transition process. Current requests for additional reporting needs are being coordinated and will continue to be supported in the Business Objects application suite.
-Textbook Adoption– The Steering Committee met December 1st. A request has been made to allow FSU Bookstore to update Textbook Adoption to eliminate the out-of-sync data between FSU data and Follett. Business Requirements for tracking adoption entries and fee charges need to be determined.

Technical Application Support IT Infrastructure
  • Significant Accomplishments
-UDBPROD database server was rebuilt to the standards and specifications requested by UCS and deployed with Fixpack 4a and updated security patches on the operating system. This standardization will allow UCS to better support the database infrastructure.
- Implemented database connection pooling in Glassfish. This allows the systems to better handle connections for the drop/add period starting on January 6th.
-
- Applied service pack 5 to the Blackboard system.
- Updated the SSL certificates for Business Objects, Secure Apps, Coldfusion, CAS (bb5.fsu.edu), rightfax, dropbox, and mysite.
- appsprd2 has been rebuilt and is currently running in production. This added 2 additional instances of glassfish to the production secure apps environment.
- Completed Cost Analysis meetings for imaging solutions project.
-Worked with SACS on organizing and setting policy for utilizing SharePoint when submitting SACS reports.
--Met with Brian Batchelder to discuss SharePoint Extranet environment.
-The IS AppWorx development environment has been setup and ready for use. The team is currently working with Mike Nola to define requirements and write scripts to assist them in their automation needs.

-FSU Research Foundation will be updating is FUNDWARE system in March. This may affect the PRG COLD reports.
-Registrar/Admissions want Rightfax to DM Integration
-Registrar/Admissions want DM Import process available for Residency Letters that will need to be run manually each semester by Rob Rinehart and 2 other staff.
-Need to contact Gov Relations to get them set up with Hummingbird.
