With a focus on Safety Performance and Culture, Carmacks Enterprises is seeking an EXPERIENCEDCorporate Safety Manager

Reporting to the President, the Corporate Safety Manager ensures that the Company Safety Program complies with all legislative and regulatory laws for any and all jurisdictions in which Carmacks operates. He/she promotes positive safety attitudes and safe work practices throughout the organization. The Corporate Safety Manager will be responsible for the supervision of all safety coordinators and safety administrators within the Carmacks organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and manages the Carmacks Safety Program ensuring that the program complies with all provincial (Alberta/Saskatchewan) legislative and regulatory laws for any and all jurisdiction in which Carmacks is operating
  • Responsible for the training and supervision of safety officers to ensure that they have the ability to carry out all Safety Program requirements
  • Facilitates employee safety committees and programs/initiatives
  • Along with safety committee recommendations and regulatory requirements, develops and recommends changes to health and safety policies and programs to management
  • Updates and maintains Corporate Safety Manual
  • Strong and effective communicator all the way from workforce to senior management
  • Provide support to Project and Operation team in all aspects of safety, occupational health and environmental issues
  • Advises managers and employees about safety standards and regulations
  • Recommends appropriate procedures and equipment for safety and compliance with relevant laws and regulations
  • Responsible for the maintenance and ongoing development of the Corporate Safety Manual
  • Conducts or coordinates safety training for employees
  • Promotes safe work practices and procedures as well as injury prevention activities
  • Maintains detailed inspection or investigation records, prepares regular reports for senior executive team attends to related administrative requirements
  • Participates in and coordinates accident/incident investigations
  • Responsible for conducting incident investigations utilizing a thorough knowledge of OH&S Act / WCB processes , and a strong working knowledge of software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word
  • Conducts and coordinates COR safety audits both external and internal
  • Monitors and maintains National Safety Code records for compliance Also responsible for NSC related training

Qualifications:

  • CRSP, CSSE designation
  • NCSO designation may be considered an asset
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in progressively responsible safety leadership roles
  • Must have at minimum 5 years experience in construction industry
  • Minimum of 5 years working with budgets at a corporate level and risk management
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, negotiation and communication skills
  • Must be proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, safety software, and internet and email tools
