A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor of Don Judy.

WHEREAS, Don Judy was born on June 2, 1941, a native of Frankfort, Franklin County, Kentucky; he is the loving son of Veronica and William Judy; he is the devoted husband of Ann Bacon Judy; he is the loving father of three daughters, Susan Judy Harrod, Lissa Judy McCracken, and Veronica Lynn Judy; and he is the proud grandfather of Brandon Harrod, Justin Harrod, Spencer McCracken, and Cassidy McCracken; and

WHEREAS, Don Judy graduated from Good Shepherd School in 1959, and he completed his undergraduate and graduate work at the University of Kentucky; and

WHEREAS, Don Judy began his public service career as budget analyst in the Department of Finance from 1965-1970; he was special projects staff associate for the Council of State Governments from 1970-1974; and he was Deputy Director of the National Association of State Budget Officers in Washington, D.C. from 1974-1978; and

WHEREAS, the late Vic Hellard, Jr., beloved Director of the Legislative Research Commission, recognized Don Judy's genius and experience in the field of finance, and further realizing that Don Judy could make significant contributions to the Legislative Research Commission and the Kentucky General Assembly, Vic Hellard, Jr. was successful in convincing him that his place was not in our nation's Capital, but in the Capital City of Frankfort where his family roots are deeply embedded in her soil; and

WHEREAS, while exemplifying dedication, professionalism, and high standards, Don Judy persevered through each "grueling" legislative session since 1980, working long hours on the Commonwealth's Budget Bill, and continuing his responsibilities on fiscal and budgetary matters during the interim; and, through the years, he applied his knowledge in a way that was comparable to the very best, while gaining respect and admiration from his peers and from the members of the General Assembly; and

WHEREAS, during his years of service to the Legislative Research Commission and the Kentucky General Assembly, Don Judy exemplified a dedication and professionalism that many people seek to achieve, but few accomplish; and

WHEREAS, Don Judy retired from the Legislative Research Commission on December 31, 1999;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate is indeed proud and honored to recognize Don Judy for his immeasurable contributions to the Legislative Research Commission and the Kentucky General Assembly. We wish to him, upon his retirement, continued success in all future endeavors.

Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Don Judy.

Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Don Judy.
