Scholarship Announcement and Application

General Description of the Scholarship

CAE, a Dallas-based aviation training corporation, will award up to FOUR corporate aircraft training scholarships in 2017. These scholarships will be awarded to four different students or recent graduates of University Aviation Association member institutions. The aims of the scholarship are to:

(1)Provide additional industry-based training opportunities for university aviation students: and,

(2)To broaden the awareness of corporate aviation career paths among university aviation students.

The scholarship will include initial training (in crews of two) resulting in a type rating in an entry-level corporate jet upon successful completion of the course.The applicant is responsible for all travel and housing-related costs.

Scholarship Criteria

(1)For current students of, or graduates of, University Aviation Association (UAA) member institutions.

(2)Current students must be graduating by May 2017 or must not have graduated with a Baccalaureate Degree more than two years before the application deadline.(March 31, 2017)

(3)Applicants must be candidates for, or have received and aviation-related Baccalaureate Degree from a University Aviation Association member institution.

(4)Applicants must have a minimum of 2.50 on a 4.0 scale overall cumulative grade pong average.

(5)Applicants must possess a valid, current 1st class medical, commercial Pilot License with a multi-engine and instrument rating, and a Certified Flight Instructor rating with instrument airplane endorsement.

(6)Applicants must have flown a minimum of 50 hours PIC or SIC within the previous 12 months.

(7)Applicants must have a minimum of 50 hours of multi-engine time at the time of application.

(8)Applicants must be available for training during June, July, or August 2017 and must pay for their travel to the designated CAE training location. Recipients of this scholarship will be trained together as a crew of two on any entry-levelcorporate jet aircraft for which CAE provides training.

(9)Applicants must demonstrate an interest in corporate or business aviation by writing a 250-word essay on how this scholarship will fit into their plans to enter corporate/business aviation. This essay must demonstrate how the applicant will use the CAE SimuFlite Scholarship to pursue a flight-related career. (Tip: have a friend or professional double-check your essay and application for grammatical errors.)

Submission Requirements

All applicants must submit an original plus five copies of each of the following items:

(1)Typed/keyboarded CAE Type Rating Scholarship application with signed "certification statement."

(2)Transcript showing latest grade point average and graduation date (if applicant is an alumnus.)—one original and four copies of the transcript is acceptable.

(3)250 word essay, as noted above.

(4)FAA certificates, includingValid 1st class medical (COPIES only…keep your originals!!)

(5)Two letters of recommendation.

(6)Resume

(7)All applicants must be recommended in writing by the University Aviation Association (UAA) member institution that the applicant now attends, or, has recently graduated from. A letter or email message Dr. NewMyer () from the UAA institutional representative (department chair, or other administrator, or faculty member) is acceptable.

(8)No more than four applicants may be recommended from any one UAA member institution.

(9)All scholarship requirements, including flight time and certification requirements, must be met at the time of application.
