Free standing signs over 32 square feet in area, or elevated higher than 9 ft. to the top of the sign regardless of size, shall be designed by a licensed engineer, providing wind load information (120 mph), and shall bear the stamp and signature of same providing.

In the B-1 and B-2 zoning districts, any establishment with windows on the first floor may display window signs covering not more than 25% of the window area.

The size of all wall signs for establishments located within the B-1, B-2, M-1, and M-2 zoning districts shall not exceed the lesser of 300 sq. ft. or 20% of the building wall to which the sign is attached.

For an establishment that is the sole occupant of a principal building, signs are allowed on one wall.

In multi-tenant buildings, each establishment with an exterior entrance used by the general public is allowed to have signs on the wall with such entrance.

In multi-tenant buildings without exterior entrances used by the general public, signs are allowed on one wall.

No portion of any projecting sign shall be less than 8 ft. above the level of a sidewalk or other pedestrian thoroughfare, nor shall be less than 15 ft. above the level of a public driveway, alley or street.

DISTANCE FROM INTERSECTION OF STREETS, ALLEYS OR DRIVEWAYS

No portion of a sign shall obscure visibility between a height of three (3) and ten (10) feet within an areadefined by a triangle extending from a street intersection by a distance of 20 feet from the corner along the curbline of each street, with the third side formed by connecting the other two legs of the triangle. (See figure above)

In the interest of public safety the building inspector may exercise discretion in determining the required distance from curbs or property boundaries.
