Reminder—Parents I will no longer put happy or sad faces on your child’s monthly calendar. They will earn pennies (fake) instead and be rewarded/punished for their behavior by either giving or taking away a penny. At the end of the week, they will use their pennies to buy items out of the treasure box. If there is a severe misbehavior, then it will be recorded on the monthly calendar and I need it initialed by you. Otherwise I will no longer need your initials on the calendar either. If your child happens to take home a penny in their pockets, just return it to school. Please do not allow your child to bring pennies from home (your money or their money). I will try to use fake pennies, nickels, and dimes, but sometimes I run out of fake pennies and have to use the real thing.

This second semester is going to begin to get tough for your child. We are going to be learning 2 letters in one week very soon. It is important that you do the weekly assigned homework with your child so they do not get behind. Work with yellow flashcards daily and make sure your child knows all those sight words. Make up games with them to keep it interesting and fun. Work on Lexia at home whenever possible but no longer than 30 min. at a time. This program is very important and helps them with the skills taught in the classroom and helps on testing on the computer. Remember that your child needs to pass Level 5 by the end of Kindergarten. They can still continue on with the program but reaching Level 5 is a must. Thank you for all your help. If you have any questions, call me.
