Differential Pressure and Gauge Pressure Transmitters
1. General
1.1 Scope
- This section describes the requirements for differential pressure and gauge pressure transmitters.
- Under this item, the contractor shall furnish and install the transmitter equipment and accessories as indicated on the plans and as herein specified.
1.2 Submittals
- The following information shall be included in the submittal for this section:
- Data sheets and catalog literature for the transmitters.
- Connection diagrams for equipment wiring.
- List of spare parts and optional equipment.
2. Products
2.1 Differential Pressure and Gauge Pressure Transmitters
A. The transmitters shall consist of an integral sensor and electronics design.
B. Sensor:
- The transmitter shall be based on a micro-machined silicon sensor design. The sensor shall be compensated for the effects of varying ambient temperature.
- The transmitter pressure capsule shall have a standard construction of 316 stainless steel (diaphragm and wetted parts). The pressure capsule shall be field-replaceable without the need for re-calibration or exchanging EEPROMS.
- The transmitter pressure sensor shall be protected from the effects of pressure swings and spikes up to the maximum working pressure (body rating) of the pressure capsule.
C. Electronics:
- The standard transmitter enclosure shall be epoxy-polyester coated with a NEMA 4X / IP65 rating. A rating of IP68 rating shall be available as an option. The enclosure shall be rotatable through 270 degrees on the capsule assembly in a traditional mounting style.
- Display: The transmitter shall have an optional LCD display for indicating the pressure in real engineering units. The display shall be rotatable in 90 degree increments.
- The transmitter shall be a two-wire loop powered device that signals on the 4-20 mA standard and provides smart communications using the HART protocol.
- The transmitter shall provide 0.075% of span accuracy, exhibit zero drift less than 0.25% of URL in 5 years and have no measurable span drift. Turndown capacity of the transmitter shall be 100:1 with ranges from 0.4 in H2O to 5800 Psig
- The transmitter shall have the ability to electronically compensate for the effects of mounting position on the sensor. Furthermore, the transmitter shall be able to force the loop current to various values to aid in loop setup and testing.
- Configuration: Configuration data shall be stored in nonvolatile EEPROM memory in electronics module. Transmitter shall be factory configured and easily changed in the field with handheld device or host that supports HART protocol. Configuration data shall include: 4-20 ma points, damping, Engineering unit selectionInformational data shall include: 8 alphanumeric character tag, 16 alphanumeric character descriptor, 32 alphanumeric character message, day/month/year, vent/drain material a-ring material, flange material.
- The transmitter shall be capable of providing linear or square root output with pressure requiring only a change of configuration.
8. The transmitter shall have on-line diagnostics and registers to detect and store various parameters such as min / max electronics temperature, min / max pressure capsule temperature and min / max process pressure to help diagnose process problems. The transmitter shall also have dual timer registers that allow the transmitter to signal when a settable time has elapsed for preventative maintenance or calibration.
- The transmitter shall carry a combined FM/CSA approval for use in Class I, Division 1, Group A-D hazardous areas for intrinsically safe, explosion proof and non-incendive applications
- Temperature Limits: Ambient -22 to 185 Deg. F with integral meter.Process: -40 to 185 Deg. F. Humidity limits: 0-100% RH.
The pressure transmitters shall be Siemens Sitrans P series DS III transmitters. Manufacturer/ Model No. Siemens 7MF4033 (Pressure Transmitter), Siemens 7MF4433 (Differential Pressure Transmitter) or approved equal. For level measurement using Differential Pressure: Model no. 7Mf4633 with 3 inch flange process connection as manufactured by Siemens or approved equal.
2.2 Spare Parts
- Spare parts for the equipment shall include the following, unless otherwise noted:
1.One set of manufacturer’s recommended spare parts.
2.Extra operation manuals as required.
3. Operator Functions
3.1 Calibration
A. Change of transmitter configuration parameters shall be possible in Class I, Division 1, Group A-D hazardous areas through integral, non-intrusive, magnetic pushbuttons.
B. These transmitter pushbuttons shall provide for configuring parameters such as zero, full scale and damping. The pushbuttons shall allow setup of zero and full scale without the need for an external pressure source. These pushbuttons shall be standard on every unit.
4. Execution
4.1 Installation
A. Follow manufacturer’s recommendation for the minimum upstream and downstream installation requirements for the flow sensor.
B.Wiring between flow sensors and remote mounted signal converters shall use cable type and procedures as per the manufacturers’ recommendations.
5. Warranty
The transmitter shall have a 5-year powered warranty, i.e. the warranty period shall be based on the internal operating hour meter.
