SICKLINGHALL PARISH COUNCIL

Clerk to the Parish Council: Mrs. C A Reed, Maple House, Main Street, Sicklinghall,Wetherby LS22 4BD Tel. 01937 581151

Dear Resident

Publication of the Harrogate District Sites and Policies Development Plan Document (DPD)

Sicklinghall Parish Council thought you should be aware of this plan which makes allocations of land for new development and sets out policies against which planning applications for development and change of use will be assessed as it includes a Rural Exceptions site for Affordable Homes in Longlands Lane, Sicklinghall.

Harrogate Borough Council is inviting anyone with views to make representations on the ‘soundness’ of the proposed plan by Friday 21st June 2013 before it submits the final plan to the Secretary of State. Full details can be found on www.harrogate.gov.uk/LPConsult where you can also download a response form to complete. If you do not have access to the internet, you can inspect the documents at Harrogate Borough Council Offices, Crescent Gardens, Harrogate HG1 2SG and at libraries throughout the Harrogate District.

For your information, The Parish Council will be making representation highlighting 3 key points:

·  We already have a proposal for the development of 7 Affordable Homes next to the school so has the need for more been properly established?

·  The site allocated is not particularly accessible due to the narrowness of the road, particularly at its junction with Back Lane, and more traffic would add to existing problems

·  The old convent site in the centre of the village is now for sale for residential development: it was not for sale when Longlands Lane was identified as a Rural Exceptions site. So if a need for further Affordable Housing can be established, might it not better be incorporated in whatever development results there with access from Main Street?

Do make your views felt but you must use the official response form and submit your representations by Friday 21st June 2013.
