Eligibility
- Individual
- Not necessarily an SIAA Member, or currently an Australian resident
Process
- Nominations are solicited via email and the SIAA’s web-site annually, in February, using the Nomination Form. The Nomination Form includes evidence against the award criteria.
- The Selection sub-committee is appointed in February
- If a nomination for a member of the selection sub-committee is received, or if, when asked, a sub-committee member declares a conflict of interest, then the Chair will select a replacement from a similar organisation.
- Nomination forms are distributed and assessed by the sub-committee using the checklist.
- The sub-committee votes in April. The Chair has the casting vote if necessary.
- The winner (if any) is advised, and is invited as the SIAA’s guest to the SimTecT dinner.
- Two shields / medallions are presented – one enduring and one for the winner to keep.
Selection Sub-committee
The sub-committee is selected by the SIAA Executive, and may be the SIAA Executive.
It has at least five representatives from the Australian modelling and simulation community, typically:
- Science (eg DSTO, CSIRO)
- Government (eg ADSO, CASA)
- Industry
- Defence
- Medical
- Transport
The sub-committee is chaired by the SIAA Chair, or as delegated.
