Greeter: Hello, welcome to the Team Made of Smiles Price Comparator user study. My name is Nir Ackner, and I will be guiding you through the process of working with our prototype. Today we will be presenting you with a first look at our android application. Before we start however, I will first need to collect your Informed Consent form.

[Collect Consent Form]

Thank you. Today's study will consist of having you perform three tasks of varying difficulty. However, I will first present you with an overview of the Android Platform and take you through a use scenario of our product.

Let's say that I am at an electronics store and I see the IPod on the shelf. I want to buy it, but first, I want to see whether there are nearby stores that sell it for less. What I would do is take my mobile device and start our automated price comparison application. I will be presented with this screen.

(Show user the prototype, which is at the home screen.)

I have two choices: I can either use the camera phone to take a picture of the product barcode, or type in the product name. Since we are working with a prototype, let’s enter a barcode.

(Enter the barcode for the iPod box in front of them.)

After I've scanned the barcode, our application will load the product overview.

(The prototype should now show the product overview view.)

At the top, we see that our application is displaying information for the product I scanned, which is a 40GB black IPod.

Let's say I believe that the IPod's price fluctuates greatly, and I want to see its price history to gauge whether I can save even more money by waiting until the price drops. So to view that and more information related to this item, I would bring up the menu. I do this by pressing the menu button on the mobile device.

(Press the menu button. The menu appears on the prototype.)

I can use the arrow keys to scroll through the menu items. I will keep scrolling until I find the Price History button, and select it using the center button.

(Scroll through the menu to History and press the center button. The prototype should now display the price history.)

I am now at the price history screen. This shows a graph what the price of the IPod has been in the past. From this, I can make a more informed buying decision.

Since I'm done, let me return to the home screen. I can do this by bringing up the menu again and selecting the Home button.

(Press the menu button. The menu appears on the prototype. Select the Home button. The prototype should now be back at the Home screen.)

Now that I've taken you through a feature of our product, do you have any questions before we begin?

[address questions if possible]

Now let’s begin. Imagine that you are at Best Buys and you see this new iPod on the shelf [point iPod box to user]. Can you please lookup the price of this iPod at stores and online.

[waits for user]

Thank you. Now that you have an idea of the cost, why don't you look up some reviews for the product.

[waits for user]

Great. Now can you please include any thoughts you might have to as a note on this product.

[waits for user]

Thanks! That’s the end of our user test. Do you have any general feedback?
