Classroom Rules:

Our classroom rules define the daily behavioral expectations necessary to ensure a safe, productive learning environment. Every student must abide by the following rules:

  1. Follow directions immediately the first time they are given.
  2. Always arrive on time and come prepared to learn with all the proper supplies.
  3. Remain quiet while the teacher is talking. Do not speak, sharpen your pencil, throw trash away, or leave class during instruction unless given permission by the teacher.
  4. Cell phones or other electronic devices must be in your assigned holder during class time. They are not to be used during class time unless instructed otherwise.
  5. No food or drink (except water) will be allowed in the classroom. Water must be in a sealed drink bottle. Gum and mints are allowed; however, I must not see it, hear it, or stick to it.

Consequences:

When a student chooses to violate a rule, the following consequences will apply in this order:

  1. Verbal warning: reminder of the rule and the consequences that follow.
  2. Phone call or email home and/or to athletic coach for student athletes.
  3. After school detention documented by the teacher with a student signature.
  4. Referral to an administrator

Note: The teacher reserves the right to alter the progression of consequences depending on the severity of the infraction. Harassment/bullying will not be tolerated and will result in an automatic administrative referral.

You will be provided points for exceptional behavior that can be exchanged for various awards (i.e. homework pass, extra hall pass, extra credit, etc.)

Classroom Procedures:

  • Entering the Classroom:Enter the classroom quickly and quietly and go directly to your assigned seat. Begin quietly working on the warm-up before the bell rings. The student handbook policy on tardies will be enforced.
  • Turning in Papers or Passing out Papers: Do not turn in any assignments until instructed by the teacher. The teacher will explain how to turn in assignments every time. All handouts will be given to the first person in each row; it is your responsibility to take a handout and continue passing the papersuntil all students have a copy.
  • Expectations While You Work: While working in class stay on task and use your time wisely. Remain in your seat unless you have permission otherwise. Do not work on assignments for other classes; I reserve the right to collect and dispose of that assignment.
  • Restroom/Hall Passes:Students will be given 6 hall passes per semester. You are not allowed out of class during the first ten minutes of class, during instructional time, or during the last ten minutes of class. Raise your hand to ask for permission to use a pass.
  • If You Are Absent:Refer to Engrade and/or the class calendar for each day you missed for class assignments, presentations, and all other information. It is your responsibility to keep up with make-up work. Regular attendance is critical for successful learning.
