Shooting Starz Productions ~ Peter Pan Jr. Spring 2018

What’s unique about our organization:

·  Our musicals are for kids of all experience levels. We believe that all kids should have the opportunity to take part in a production. Our production is based on a first come first serve registration basis, not an audition. We have worked with dozens of kids that have never had a performing experience and the growth and accomplishment that takes place is absolutely amazing!

·  We give kids lots of opportunities to participate! All cast members have a speaking role (no ensemble roles in our shows)

·  We are a Christian organization. You do not need to be Christian to participate. We do however pray before each practice and performance as a group. We also implement Bible verses and Christian values into what we do.

·  Our dance moves, costumes, content of the musicals, etc. is family friendly and age appropriate

Peter Pan Jr. from MTI

We are putting on Peter Pan Jr. through MTI. Director is Steph Bates. There will also be other high school and adult volunteers. We are excited to announce that this is our first show that one of the casts will consist of kids AND parents! An all family affair! In the case that a cast member would like a special adult to sign up with them and their parent is unable to, another adult such as aunt, uncle, godparent, etc. is permitted to sign up.

**Children and youth in grades K through 8 in the 2017-2018 school year are welcome to register! Parents may also sign up for the Sunday cast along with your child.

Audition Day TBD (end of January).

Every child & parent who registers will receive a role in the musical! Our casts are based on first come first serve registration. We will have 2 casts which will each consist of 16-20 actors/actresses. Auditions will determine which cast each child will be placed in. There will be a simple script reading for all cast members. We will help if need be with reading. We will also have dance auditions in which a short routine will be taught to the kids and then we will watch them do it a few times. We will also teach them a chorus of a song and listen to them sing it in small groups. We try to make auditions as painless as possible. This will help us determine what roles each cast member will play.

Practice Schedule:

Our rehearsals are on Sunday evenings (Cast 1) or Thursday evenings (Cast 2) from 6:00-7:45 pm. Children who sign up with a parent will be in Cast 1. Children registering without a parent will be in Cast 2. There are no lead role rehearsals for this show.

Rehearsals take place at the Champlin Ice Forum 12165 Ensign Ave. Champlin MN 55316. Full rehearsal schedule here: http://shootingstarzproductions.yolasite.com/upcoming-programs.php

**Being a part of a musical is a big commitment. We ask every cast member to be at every practice, unless of an emergency. Being a part of a musical is a team effort and we want every child to succeed. Each time a cast member isn’t present; it makes things more difficult for the rest of the group and can be stressful for those who had to miss in the case that they fall behind. We do not hold make up practices. For cast members who miss more than one practice, there is a chance that their lines may be cut or they may be removed from a musical number. **

Our practices are “closed” to those who are not in the cast. We try to eliminate as many distractions as possible.

**Cast members should always bring their script and a water bottle to practice.**

Dress Rehearsals and Performances:

Dress rehearsals and performances will be held at Lincoln Elementary in Anoka. We will be using their stage! Tentative dates/times here http://shootingstarzproductions.yolasite.com/upcoming-programs.php

Parent Commitment:

·  Help your child with memorizing their lines and getting them to practice

·  Helping your child stick to their commitment to the musical. We expect families that sign up for Shooting Starz to help their children make sacrifices when necessary when they interfere with practice (missing birthday parties, events that that come up after committing to this show, etc.)
